Is burning trash bad for the air?

Answer:
yes. it causes polution
Yes, especially if the garbage in question contains plastic or chemicals.
No. it just releases poluttion and it smells bad.
depends what your burning.
of course it is hazardous and dangerous for ones health
Yes it is a form of air pollution which is always bad for the equator. You should try sorting almost everything can be recycled in some way. Good luck and Please add me to your contacts
ya, air pollution
YES! never do that again!
yes, but burning anything is pretty bad, but trash can consist of many things that release toxins in the air thus causing pollution.
depends
Yes. The smoke can be hazardous, even a carcinogen, to you, those around you, animals, and plants as well as to adding to the global damage. Also, many things have chemicals and dyes on/in them that are dangerous to burn because they are noxious. Plus, if you are anywhere near a building, the smoke and soot builds up on the exterior walls, making them dirty, and get into the air vents and things that make it into your house/business/barn/etc, causing things to get dirty and sick in there as well.
well, it depends on what you are burning, and how. If you are burning some brush in your back yard, well, it might be better just to throw it in the woods, but it isnt a horrible thing to do. If you plan on burning a bunch of plastic and tires, then you should be thrown on with it. If you are talking about the perc plants that burn trash for energy, well they should have filters and stuff to try to keep the pollution down. Burning may be a better solution than throwing things into the nearest river, but it is just a hand off from water to air pollution. Best bet would be to reduce, reuse, and recyle.
Consider the content of your question. You've included two words which are anti-environmental. "Trash" and "Burn" imply destruction and not creation. They each have negative connotation. So, logic would denote that yes, burning trash is doubly bad for the air. Not only are you not using something which might be recycled for future use, but you are releasing any compounds from it in a gaseous form to float up into the upper atmosphere to bond with other compounds that are already there.
THATS REALLY A NO BRAINER. AND IF YOU HAVE RUBBER, PLASTIC OR CHEMICALS IN YOUR FIRE ITS EVEN WORSE
Yes because it releases carbon dioxide which is the cause of Global Warming.
It also pollutes the air and makes it dirtier and unhealthy to breath.
By burning trash people have been known to go to hospitals from the chemicals and compounds released.
If it is organic... it isn't too bad - like firewood and paper and anything natural. But plastics and styrofoam are VERY bad for the environment! A simple test (that doesn't ALWAYS work..) is if what you are burning is producing really dark, black smoke - it is BAD for the air.
Yes, the chemicals burning trash puts into the air, are toxic. It also puts more carbon dioxide into the air. It contributes to acid rain, and the chemicals released contribute to many illnesses.
yes burning trash is bad because it leads to pollution which leads to global warming one of the biggest environmental issue that are planet faces. please add me
Okay, first of all, burning stuff is way cool. As to whether it's bad for the air..

Think about the fact that nothing disappears, it's just tranformed into a different form. So if you have a piece of wood, set it on fire, and it burns to ash, you've released the core elements that made up that wood by transforming them into another form. ash, smoke, particulates that get carried away in the air.

Now say it's not wood, but a very large tire. Same thing happens, only now your releasing petrochemicals and all kinds of other toxic crap into the air. It hasn't disappeared just 'cause you can't see it... it's just gotten diluted.

Problem is when lot's of trash gets burned, then there's lot's of crap in the air. The crap gets more concentrated, and you end up with visible air quality problems like smog.

It's the same difference as you burning one log versus setting a whole forest on fire.

Somewhat related, there are refuse disposal programs that incinerate trash versus burying it in a land fill for a million years. They solve the problem by "scrubbing" the air released from the fire to remove all particulates. A common way of doing this is to superheat the exhaust from the burn to a level that destroys the crap in the smoke. This is about the only way to safely dispose of garbage by burning it.
mebabyhelp,

Here's the way things work.

Animals (including humans) breathe in air. They remove oxygen and return carbon dioxide (CO2) along with the rest of the air.

Plants breathe air (in the leaves). Through a process called 'photosynthesis', they remove carbon dioxide (CO2) and return oxygen.

Burning your trash (at least most trash) uses air and through a process called 'oxidation' releases carbon dioxide (CO2) and heat along with the rest of the air.

That is a very simplified version of what goes on (there is more to it), but that's the basics.

So, to answer your question. No, it isn't bad for the air. It's just another part of the cycle. It's similar to what humans do, but on a larger scale.

Like most things in life, if it's done in moderation, it's usually not a problem. Try not to breathe the smoke.
um no.ok its pollution a tiny bit but u probably pollute more driving for 1 hour than burning lets say a small truck load of garbage...plus its cheaper, and better than just dumping the stuff,,,,i think if people have the space like a ranch and have garbage to dispose...why pay to take it out?when you can simply burn it and at the same time warm up your back yard
its the worst
trash includes plastics ,and worst of all styrofoam ,
the smoke from this is pure poison for the air one of the greatest factors towards air polution like burning tires
please dont burn trash

and leaves are the trees way of making top soil
one should never burn leaves but place them around trees to add to their food

or use them to make compost

a general note on compost

bones,treetrunks,cardboard,egg... clothes(if they are organic),poop,leaves,kitchen waste,foodscraps,newspaper,
your mother inlaw and kitty litter
and even the dead cat

All can be put on the compost heap

as long as you seal it with a covering of leaves .or put a piece of plastic on top ,
keep it moist and in the shade ,it will then get hot enough to kill all parasites

the worms will devellop, and take care of everything ,the moisture helps decomposition

the plastic keeps in the moisture and protects the worms from predators .like chickens ,birds armadillos, and even dogs .i have seen going in to eat my worm culture

you could add a bit of lime now and again
to make the process more potent

HOW
make the compost in a shallow hole ,so that it retains more humidity,
about 2 square meters is good ,and have it under a tree or put a little roof over i t,which does not have to be water proof ,so a palm thatch is enough,

and makesure the garden sprinkler gets there or spray some water on it ,at least once a week, dont have it water logged or the worms will drown or leave

Organic waste is responsible for 70% of contamination in Land fills if it goes out with the trash ,so please do not do this

RECYCLING
Cardboard is also acceptable for recycling

so is glass if you classify it in colors, and
aluminium cans
If dating it is bad ,I would imagine burning it would be just as bad .
