Need opinion on a new thermostat for water heaters?

I think you would be better off to set the thermostat on your current water heater to 120F, and, if the water heater is fairly old, to install an insulation blanket (these are widely available and some utilities will pay for them).
By turning your water heater temperature down at night, this gadget will save some of the night time standby losses, but the standby losses on newer electric heaters are quite small. If you have an older electric heater, then the insulation blanket will reduce its night time (and day time) losses.
I did not see any price listed, which does not seem like a good sign, but I would think that an insulation blanket would be just as (maybe more) effective at a lower cost.
