What can I do to recycle in my classroom?
Answer:
I keep a square laundry bushel next to my trash can. All of my students know that it is for paper only. It fills up really quickly, and I have teachers using it all the time too. The janitor rarely has to empty my regular trash can.
Lots of waste paper for a recycling center.
talk to the principle and ask if you and some of the schools around your own can have a competition on who can collect the most cans. In the end you help your school and all the ones around it.
set up recycle bins for paper right next to the trash can! just use old boxes..and urge your classmates to recycle and not throw away paper!! : )
There are many ways in which you can recycle in your classroom.you could keep a cardboard box in the corner of the room where the students can dispose recyclable papers. The dustbins need not be of plastic.Instead get some cardboard boxes from home and cover them with bright wrapping paper.you can explain to your class that they all could recycle their pens by using refills.you can have a set of stationery items such as good quality scissors which the students could use year after year. This would be much better than having to buy these stationery every year.
Line up a few old boxes, using one for paper; one for plastic; one for cardboard; one for aluminum cans; one for newsprint. Encourage your classmates to bring those materials from home, then take them to a recycling center. Some centers will pay for certain items (such as aluminum cans), which might even let you collect enough for a class field trip! -RKO- 06/07/07
