This time is different. Both in cause, discussed below, and effect, discussed here. Modern man can't simply migrate in masses to somewhere more hospitable. The effects of global warming will be economic depression in rich countries and starvation in poor ones.
James Lovelock, a well respected scientist, is famous for his work on how wonderfully the Earth can regulate itself. The scientific data on global warming changed his mind, and he now is a passionate advocate for nuclear power to reduce global warming.

Yes, there have been natural climate changes before, mostly due to the Sun. But the data clearly shows that, starting about 40 years ago, man's contribution overwhelmed the natural forces that controlled climate before.

Yes, you're correct. The several times it occurred in the past it melted the ice ages, and saved the world.
Al Gore is a ranting lunatic (like the fictional guy who claimed "the sky is falling"). He has also claimed to have "invented the Internet." Don't listen to his blatherings about global warming.
"Nature" has adapter in the past, yes. But mankind wasn't around at that time to impede the processing of adapting.
There'll always be raging debates about whether global warming is caused by mankind's interference or whether it's just another cycle that nature's going through. Until that debate is settled, mankind's best approach is to not aggravate or situation further.
