What differnce does energy saving light bulbs make?
Answer:
They use 2/3 less energy than standard incandescent light bulbs, and last up to 10 times longer. Replacing a 60-watt incandescent with a 13-watt CFL can save you at least $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb. Second, CFLs offer convenience, because they last longer, and come in different sizes and shapes to fit almost any fixture. In addition, CFLs produce about 70% less heat than standard incandescent bulbs, so they're safer to operate and can help cut energy costs associated with home cooling.
It will reduce your light bill . You will save money on replacing light bulbs
It has made a big difference for us.
if you only replace on bulb, it won't make a lot of difference. but if you replace all the major ones you use, you will see a major difference in as quickly as one billing period!! also, they don't emit anywhere near the heat, making it easier to keep your home cool, thus cutting down on your cooling bill as well.
They use considerably less electricity which reduces the amount of energy that needs to be produced. If everyone used energy saving bulbs, the amount of pollution created while making electricity could be reduced. This is turn could reduce acid rain which causes other environmental problems.
About $150.00 a month in my electric bill! I changed all the bulbs in my house to "energy savers", and the difference was immediate, drastic, and well worth the initial cost of the new bulbs.
They use less energy and in the long run saves you money.
cooler bulbs
less energy used
lasts longer
saves money
Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars.

{Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) last longer than typical incandescent light bulbs, and use less energy.}
{Replacing a 100-watt incandescent with a 32-watt CFL can save you at least $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb.}
Not only do they use less energy than a regular bulb, but they also last longer-I've had the same one in my lamp for a few years and they are brighter. I love them :)
Wattage, You have a 100 watt incandescent light bulb vs a 18 watt compact florescent the savings is significant !
They use less energy thus your light bill will be less.
Apparently it is a personal savings that you will experience. I wouldn't believe any of the caca about emissions. Who has conducted these measurements and what are their credentials? Have these measurements also been tested by independent researchers? You know, just do what you feel comfortable with doing while avoiding the guilt pile-on. Guilt is the driving emotion behind environmentalism, you know. What is this, a religion?
watch Mythbusters they have a thing about light bulbs
i can tell you one thing i went to home depot and invested in 2 of the big packets of the florescent bulbs and placed them through out my home in every fixture and lamp they would fit and my light bill went down 30-40 dollars so not only did it help the enviornment but it helped my pocket book also
they r more expensive but "they" say that they last longer and don't use as much electricity
well with an energy saving bulb...it takes less watts, yet gives out the same light as a regular bulb...I have one in my bdroom.it only takes 7 watts and gives off 56 watts of light.they have stronger ones if you need more brightness..I have the curly bulbs (energy saving) that takes 14 watts of electricity and put out 75 watts of light.so you can see...if you replace all your regular bulbs in the house.it really adds up all the watts you save in 1 month.less watts=lower electric bill.
They only save the environment, not your money. The energy saving light bulbs cost much more than incandescent light bulbs. Yes, they last much longer, but because they last so long, the money you save over the life of the bulb, is not seen as a savings on your electric bill. (Believe me, I've tried to find the savings!)
The energy saving bulbs emit much less carbon than incandescents and that is the main reason they were made. If we don't do something about carbon emissions from every source, the depleting ozone will have us burning up before we know it! And by that point, it won't matter how much heat the incandescents give off.
They require replacement less often. This may offer a savings in treatment of household falls during replacement or from stumbling in the dark when the bulb's out, not a "light bill" savings per se unless you hiring someone to do bulb replacements.
They don't consume as much energy/lumen when turned on. This can save on the "light bill".
They don't produce as much heat. This can help reduce a/c cost in warmer weather.
I specifically have *one* incandescent light for close use in crafting ... it gives me light and warms my hands with minimal impact on the rest of the room. Otherwise, with all of the other bulbs "energy savers", I'd need to keep the room temperature higher in winter , which would affect the gas bill, rather than the electric.
Energy saving light bulbs use less electricity to get the same wattage as regular bulbs thus saving our energy consumption. They work great and last 4 times longer so it saves you money also.
NOT ONLY DO THEY USE LESS ENERGY AND LAST LONGER, BUT YOU WON'T HAVE THE HEAT COMING OFF THE BULB. SO THEN YOU WON'T HAVE A HIGHER ELECTRIC BILL DUE TO A HOTTER LIGHT BULB HEATING UP YOUR ROOM.
Absolutely 0%. I'll assume that you're talking about global warming for a minute here. If it is such a gigantic, worldwide catastrophe, then how the heck is switching out our lightbulbs going to do anything? Light bulbs don't save the environment. In fact, THE ENVIRONMENT DOESN'T NEED SAVING!!
On the topic of light bills, the actual flourescent bulbs are much more expensive, but have a longer life span.

that should help some.
you mean by using less energy to light up and saving you money by that and the fact they last longer than the standard bulb???
I have changed all my lights in my 3 story Victorian house to the energy saving light bulbs a few years back other then the intial output of money which you can save more money by buying in bulk quantities.I have reduced my energy spending by roughly 2/3, not only changing light bulbs but also changing the the ways you use them as well, turning off light when leaving rooms and so on.
my bill has dropped 30 dollars in the past month and a half of using them, im sure it will drop more. Little things like that make a big difference. :)
My husband and I have only a few old style bulbs left, and these are mostly in areas where the CFL bulbs don't fit. Our electric bill in May 2003 was $62. This month it is $23. Our apartment is ALL electric, heat, cooking, refrigeration, AC & water heating... all on electric. Our habits certainly haven't changed, but a change in light bulbs saves us about $40 a month.
