Why are no real questions being addressed by people on all sides of the topic?

There is a lot of yelling back and forth about the environment and no one is addressing the real issue which basically is poluting of all kinds. What difference does it make if one side or the other is right about the cause of global warming?

Answer:
NO KIDDING!!

let's just realize that there is a problem and work together to solve it
Well, if we find the cause of the issue then it is easier to eliminate the issue. But you're right. We should all come together to save the environment, rather than waste our time arguing about it.
Amen to that, Jim, my dear! They are more worried about who is right than about the fact that after a while nobody will be around to remember the winner!
It doesn't. You are right on. Seems like planet health should be a topic that can be discussed rationally. Global warming may be a symptom. Sometimes symptoms can be misleading. I don't need fifteen different doctors telling me to excercise to stay healthy. Huh, maybe we don't necessarily have to agree on "GW" to make changes that are healthy for the planet.
Blame makes people feel that they are blameless. It is always the 'others' who are responsible for our given predicament.

Controversy sells, therefore the media feels that this is the current hot button and they are using it to sell paper, time, products, ideas.

I have seen studies that talk about the fact that our whole solar system is warming. One of the best reasons I have seen given is because our position in relationship to a particular stellar cloudbank has changed. We are traversing from one cloudbank to another. Evidence shows that Mars is warming up. The reason that we now can see beyond Pluto to other planetary bodies is not just due to better optics, it is also that stellar debris has cleared enough to see better. Our sun is also affected by the same changes.

Is any of this getting much press? No! You have to ask why and who benefits most by pressing the current and popular global warming propaganda.

Gelologically speaking, this is a normal occurance as the solar system ebbs and flows throughout its lifecycle. It has happened before and it will happen again. All-in-all, if we become accustomed to husbanding our resources and becoming responsible stewards of our planet is a really good thing. Perhaps in this case, the means justify the ends, if we are successful.
Essentially what you seem to be asking is for those who understand the issues and don't chose to believe the hype should just be quiet and let the socialists advance their agenda. No thanks. I'll pass.
Well, if Al Gore is right, which he isn't, then kiss your cars and your beautiful incandescent lightbulbs goodbye. Not to mention your freedom and your wealth...but besides that.If the skeptics are right, which they are, then we don't need to worry!
I think you need to understand American politics are very superficial and all about power and money not necessarily actually helping people or a cause. It's a lot easier to cast doubt on an urgent situation than actually admit a problem exist. If you admit a problem exist than a leader is called upon to do something about it and of course there is a price. Which is why Ronald Reagan pulled that tree comment of his. Hence some of the other posts about Global warming is a natural cycle, mankind is innocent and a bunch of tree huggers are just making noise. When the invetible happens it's generally too late and a band-aid just won't cut it. I think you're seeing this effect now with the melting ice caps, severe tornadoes and storms. Now the typical response would be to vote a different set in but the politics will remain the same because folks don't want to take their leaders to task. The other problem is Americans want their cake and eat it too. So they continue to buy the big gas guzzlers and expect the politicans who are owned by the energy and auto companies to do something about the public's bad habits
The other thing is politicians try to do something but not do something at the same time. That's how you end up with bills that never pass because they always have some unrelated crap tacked on that they know will never pass. Of course that becomes fodder for the next election. You know the drill: "I tried to pass legislation but the president vetoed it or congress wouldn't pass it. What they negelect to tell you is attached to the bill is some stupid item such as: a bridge to nowhere or tax breaks for one eyed one legged pig farmers in a small Iowa town. That is why no one will address an important issue until it's too late. However I wouldn't be surprised if all our elected officials have farm land in the interior of the country away from both coast and dumped their California and New York real estate. They may not tell you but they know Global warming is real and where the safe places are. Hell if they could get off the planet I'm sure they would have a ship ready somewhere. They're not stupid but they think you are.
Now, you've GOT something! Exactly as you say: who CARES about whether it's Al Gores bad breath, my SUV or all that poo the penguins lay down on the ice cap? I agree!

The deal is, what can we do to act as though we CARED about this place? Not to make someone else do what we think they should -but rather, what can I do?

Thank you!
