What are some good ways for me to conserve energy around the house?

I need some Ideas for changes I could make around the house all Ideas are welcome!

Answer:
Fortunately, conserving energy can mean saving a lot of money, although you may need to spend a little to get started.

To reduce your electricity usage and bring down your power bills, replace any old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs with compact florescent ones. They cost a little more up front (but often have state rebate coupons--ask at the counter), but they cut your electrical usage by 75%. Start with the bulbs that are on the most. Don't worry about bulbs that don't get turned on much or left on, like closet bulbs. Call your electric company and ask about their programs for reducing usage. They may send someone out to your house to look at all your appliances and tell you how you can cut their usage. Or they may loan you a usage meter so that you can go around and measure the usage of each appliance. Once you know how much electricity each one uses, you can calculate how much it costs to run, and whether it's cost effective to use it at all. If you do this, you will quickly eliminate your electric dryer in favor of a clothes horse or handing clothes outside. You may also decide to unplug appliances that are sucking electricity that you never thought about before. Study your electric bill each month and try to get it to go down. When it comes time to replace appliances like refrigerators, washers, always go with EnergyStar, because even if they cost a little more up front, they will save you much more in the long run.

Heating is another big energy user. Get your house snug and tight. You'll be much more comfortable as well as save money. Get a copy of "The Home Energy Diet" by Paul Scheckel from your library or through interlibrary loan for some great ideas about having a more comfortable, cheaper, greener home.
well turn lights off when u leave a room ,thinks like that
Use energy efficient light bulbs, keep curtains closed during the day, lower the heat on your water heater, use your washer and dryer in the evening, change your ac's air filter as directed.
Smaller house if possible, Very good insulation & no air leaks, Use highly efficient appliances and lighting, Keep house a little warmer in summer & cooler in winter, Only ventless fireplaces, Programmable thermostats, etc.

All of these will not only save energy, but will save you money.
go to walmart and get a 6 pack of compact florecent 60watt bulbs that only use 13watts replace the 6 to 12 most used lights in your home with these. iv used them for 2 years and have saved a LOT of money on my power bill
Grow your own veggies and fruit, reduces trips to the grocer. Plus, less produce would have to be shipped to the grocer, so there is less carbon output. If that is not possible, buy from your local farmers market.

Wear your clothes at least two times before washing whenever possible.

Re-use bags. Or make your own for shopping. When shopping, don't take a bag from every store you go into, just keep putting things in the same bag until you run out of room.

Combine your errands (that's a hard one, as it takes planning, but it's worth it).

Buy plant based soaps and lotions.
If you have a gas hot water heater, you can turn down the thermostat on it during the hours you don't need hot water. It only takes about a half hour to heat up. Or you can buy one of those on demand water heaters that the Europeans having been using for decades.
turn off the lights when you leave a room, when you are in the room only have as many on as absolutley necessary, turn the heat down (or better yet don't put it on at all and wear something warm), don't use air conditioner (unless it's really unbearable), buy energy effecient light bulbs, unplug the tv when you're done watching instead of just turning it off (it's still using energy because its not really off, it's just on stand-by), and turn the computer off when not using it.
