I am using my big tower P4, Big Screen TV on, Radio on, coffee maker on all day, 6 lava lamps, every light on in the house, and I leave my computer on all the time with no hibernation mode!
I'm on it to work on a research paper and clear an "I". Why are you on it because you leaving one too.

Because I'm at work, and my computer would be on anyways. So while it's on, I might as well try to do something that I enjoy instead of just leaving it on for no reason.

You're right. Let's all get off our computers right now. Everyone shutdown. In fact, no computers... period. And also... horse and buggies for everyone!
It's not an all or nothing issue. We can all economize our computer usage (for instance, planning our web browsing before powering up, efficiently running through that checklist, and powering down afterwards instead of just leaving the computer idly running), but to do without computer usage is a bit much. After all, it is an incredible resource for educational purposes... e.g., the discussion at hand.
