Killing Nascar? Seriously, you see those stop global warming things, telling you to plant a tree, not use air conditioning or aerasol sprays, and you COULD help the enviroment. When nascar uses how much gas, to drive around a circle that no one likes watching? who agrees

Most of our C02 emissions come from coal burning power plants, so banning monthly hotrod races won't do much.

The problem is far broader, and honestly, if we eliminated NASCAR because of global warming, rednecks would get so pissed they'd elect another George Bush. Do we really want that?

I think it's a good start. Think about it this way. The amount of gas they burn durring the race is nothing compaired to the amount of gas the redneck nation burns by getting to and from those gigantic stadiums that seat 200,000 people. 200,000 people is a medium sized city, and I don't think too many nascar fans drive Priuses.
Or even better we get rid of ALL pro sports.I mean think of all the fuel used by the fans driving back and forth,all the pollution from the cooking and all the wast that is made that just goes to fill landfills. I mean who really cares about sports anyways.

3. We are cleaning our environment. America is cleaner now than what it was 20 years ago.
4. Nascar is so small it wouldn't matter. If Al Gore and John Kerry lived in smaller houses it would mean more to our energy situation than what Nascar is doing.

If your argument is correct we also need to stop: baseball, soccer, football, rock concerts, etc. All spectator events.

Because the environmental impact of a NASCAR race is not the few cars in the race, it's the spectators traveling to the race (or game or concert).

We don't have to stop doing things to reduce global warming. We just have to do them more efficiently. Here's the plan.

We can save the environment by using Solar Energy to make electricity and taking public transport;like a bus.A bus can take about 40 people,while your own normal car can take only up to 5 people.If we calculate like this:40 divide by 5 = 8
In this way,if there are 40 people in a rush,and there are no buses in this world,we will need 8 cars.(8 cars give out a lot of Carbon Monoxide)
But the best is still walking or riding a bicycle.

As many have pointed out, it's the fans who burn up all the gas. The average race uses about 6000 gallons. Spectators will burn up much more than that.

Consider this:
Indy is moving to all-ethanol. NASCAR is moving to gasahol and could even go the way of ethanol. I can already guess what you think of NASCAR fans. I don't get them either. But then, I don't get soccer fans. Or hip-hop, spinner-rim crowds either. Back to point - what do you think the effect that NASCAR might have on the environment if they made alternative fuels look COOL to a crowd that traditionally doesn't care a lick about environmental issues.

Live Earth is going to create a massive consumption of energy to try to convince people that don't need convincing. Now, THAT'S a waste. Consuming that energy while convincing people to change...
