How come global warming was not a problem during the clinton administration?
Answer:
Because Clinton was in bed with big corporations like Enron...
"Enron, however, has been at the forefront of the global-warming debate, and was an early and strong supporter of Kyoto and Kyoto's proponents:
In January 1997, the company announced formation of the Enron Renewable Energy Corporation to offer alternatives to the "$250 billion U.S. electricity market." Renewable Energy CEO Tom White supported President Clinton's $6.3 million plan to fight global warming.
Later that year, Enron CEO Kenneth Lay was named a member of President Clinton's "Council on Sustainable Development," joining Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt, EPA Administrator Carol Browner, and Fred Krupp, executive director of the Environmental Defense Fund. The task force also included representatives from the Sierra Club, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The National Environmental Trust, a public-relations organization heavily funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts to promote environmental policies, worked with Kenneth Lay to place pro-Kyoto editorials (under Lay's signature) in the Houston Chronicle, the Austin-American Statesman, and the Salt Lake City Tribune.
When President Clinton called for a gradual reduction in greenhouse gases, to lay the groundwork for U.S. backing of Kyoto, Enron executives expressed their support. In an Atlanta Constitution article, Enron Senior Vice President Terry Thorn called the announcement "a measured, appropriate action plan given what we know today about global warming. This will unleash the ingenuity of American business to find creative solutions."

I guess it's too bad that Enron was roped in by the Bush Justice Department. Just think of what a great supporter those wonderful people at Enron were - the environment has lost a true friend... :sniff:
because clinton didnt rage war in iraq over oil
Global warming has always been an issue, even when clinton was in office. The Ironic thing is, becuase a republican was elected instead of al gore, he has had the time to go around and spread awareness about global warming. Just think of how much progress would have been made by now if Gore were in office. The polar bears may still have ice left to rest on. wowoh.
it's been a problem even before Clinton's time
Human caused global warming was started by Bush beating Gore. Don't you know that?
Umm I do believe that Al Gore was Vice president in the clinton adminstration, and he has been fighting global warming for a while now. watch his movie an inconenient truth, its not a "new" thing by far.
Clinton was a Democrat.
i do not know, but i do know there is no global warming, the worlds seasons go in paterns
It has been a problem and known about for decades but the voices were not heard, not loud enough, very few wanted to even begin to think it could happen, but now that some things are beginning to be more obvious it is getting attention
One could ask why it wasn't a problem when Bush Senior was in office.
And the GOP can do what it does best, blame the Dmes
Because Clinton cares more so its OK.
people like Bill mollison were talking about Global Warming in the 60ties
but nobody was listening
Now about 150.000 people die each year related to global warming and 3000 species of Animals have become exstinct and it has become an issue
isnt that silly
Well, you obviously have a bone to pick with the Democratic side of politics.
It very much was an issue, and it was in a lot more books than you think. Gore has been testifying about global warming for a very long time, but back then they didn't have as much concrete evidence as they have today, and yet, there are still those who say it isn't an issue.
The reason it became so heated now is because of the connection between the top oil executives and the current administration. Global warming has been tried to be played down because more fuel efficiency and more oil regulations = less money for the executives. Since the administration has a lot of oil interests, they want global warming to be hush-hush.
Global warming is not a political issue, something that people really need to understand. It is an environmental issue. It doesn't matter what party you're in, it needs to be controlled.
The scientific data wasn't as solid then. So, nothing could get through Congress. Clinton signed Kyoto, then Congress rejected it.
A lot has changed since 2000. The science is now indisputable, except by a (very) few skeptics.
You can blame the fast food chains, burgers, coffee, pizza, etc. Since the Clinton administration they have grown leaps and bounds...TV forces you to eat foods that are gassy...During the Clinton administration, people only farted 52 times a day...Now its 146 times a day. These gases go into our atmosphere causing global warming...
because there were no problems during the clinton administration we lived in the land of milk and honey. oh yeah and blow jobs and liars.
The roots of the "problem" came about in the ascent from the LIA. The problem was tampered with when the factory smokestacks were shut down, and we slipped a ways back down in "Global Cooling"
Now we know a bit on why that happened. But we got "scientists" who know now how to make computer plots pretty with red warning lines, and they only have about a 3:1 error factor last I heard someone really admit there were uncertainties.
Actually, since the factories were great polluters, attacking elsewhere takes the pressure off BIg Multinational Industry.
And yes, it is a good way to blast someone who does not follow your policies...used to be call him a pinko, now it is call call him a non-Believer in Global Warning,
I am manfully avoiding a pun involving Monica!!
And actually, if you look at the really large scale plots, you will see Global Warming happens every 90,000 years, and the temperatures go up and down for a few thousand years, with high peaks a bit above now, and low peaks like the LIA.
But this time maybe someone, a Democrat likely, really blew it, and so there has to be a distraction there ready to go. Or more likely someone is paying off a debt with the money from Carbon Credits.
But I really see it as a new way to feather Gore's nest, and the pockets of the big Multinationals and of the UN with the proceeds from revamping the economy, moving into panic mode where people are easily stampeded, and they will not see the payoffs in the confusion.
I'd say tho cool it with the politics; both parties are equally corrupt...just depends on who starts slinging mud and calling names first!
I tend to think the only way we will get real non-politicized action that does not make things worse than before is to all of us vote for the minor party of our choice, and toss the two major ones both out. Then we'd have a chance that the "science" involved would not be political science!
And it can be argued the problem started anytime you wish...industrial revolution, or when Henry Ford invented the cheap automobile.
I think we need to find out how the folks in the MWP lived so well, and spread out so far, and what they did to bring on the LIA, or was it Mother Nature?? And then pay attention!
How come Iraq was not a problem during the Clinton administration, except for, let's see... Perle, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld. You might notice global warming also wasn't much of a problem in the early Bush years... it has become more urgent as more evidence has come in to support the idea. It was already being talked about in the late 1980s.
Governments have to deal with challenges... and pathetic partisan conspiracy theories based on the false and childish view that the two majors parties are actually very different are really just sad.
Both parties have done all they can to drive independent thinkers away from power... Bush elevated it to a high art in making sure anyone with a brain was prevented from stopping the Iraq disaster... you seem to prefer weak cynicism to demanding the truth, demanding answers from individuals who have nothing to financially gain from the outcome. But such basic concepts of citizenship and critical thought are alien to the Repubmatons and Demobots.
You're all so good at seeing 'Gore feathering his nest'... but never that an oil millionaire might be- gasp- feathering another nest. Why can't you make the tiny extra logical leap to see that both sides of politics are crap? Such simplistic thinking...
Global warming was an issue during the Clinton Administration. As you recall, Al Gore was Vice President under Clinton.
One of the key Clinton Administration initiatives on Global Warming came in the form of the Kyoto Protocol, an international treaty developed in large part by the United States to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. President Clinton signed the treaty and transmitted it to the United States Senate for approval in 1997. The Senate ultimately rejected the proposal because the treaty didn't apply to so-called "developing nations" like India and China-- some of the top producers of CO2.
International work on global warming started in the late 1980's under President George H.W. Bush as part of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The IPPC consists of the world's leading environmental scientists and climatologist who concluded in 1990 that global warming is very real.

Not only was Global Warming not an issue, but gasoline was, what, $1.50? Maybe less? So Clinton slashed the budget for fusion research and let everyone enjoy the cheap gas orgy by buying SUVs. Before leaving office he stuck a pin in the dotcom bubble by sending Janet Reno and Joel Klein after Microsoft for making a profit, and further encouraged businesses to ship their jobs to China and India.
So today China and India are burning the midnight oil to build duplicates of the idle factories scattered across the USA, and they've told the world to kiss the Kyoto Treaty goodbye. But thats all somehow Bush's fault because his pop made money in the oil business after World War 2.
It seems you don't really care about the answer to the question as you're a "blame Bush first" complainer. Nevertheless, I'll answer it for you.
1) Global warming was a problem during the Clinton Admin.
2) It got hype during the Bush Admin for several reasons:
An Inconvenient Truth came out and educated millions of people who didn't know the facts about global warming.
Climate science has progressed to a point where the experts are convinced that humans are the primary cause.
Bush has been the worst environmental president in US history, which has drawn even more attention to environmental issues. His administration even went as far as to edit scientific papers to try and make it sound like global warming wasn't a big deal, which drew even more attention to the issue.
These are the main reasons why you hear so much about global warming now. Scientists are trying to tell us that we don't have much more time to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions before it becomes too late to avoid the worst consequences of global warming.
Since all politicians have agendas, Gore (who didn't lose the election) but rather came up with a new political scheme with which to get people all freaked out about.
It's all part of the idea that we need to reduce the world's population so that the "elite" of the world can continue and the rest of us "unwortthy" people can be their slaves.
Many will be rounded up and killed (like me simply because I'm in a wheelchair and am considered useless to society) but to those who remain, watch out, you'll be enslaved.
It was, and it was ignored! there has been evidence sine the 60's and before that, but hey it ain't there, right!
There are none so blind, as those who will not see!
yes it was but guess who blocked any democratic initiative that were put forward. the republicans thats right two points for you
