In what ways can eco-friendly practices benefit a company?
Answer:
Eco-friendly companies are looked up to by customers. It's great for business when a company goes green. It adds integrity to people's perspectives of the company too.
It's also extremely economic, in the sense that many environmentally friendly practices are very cost effective (ie. heating costs, electricity bills, water bills).
It can also boost the feeling of a workplace and increase workers' moods and efficiency.
Tax Deductions
Increases Morale
Good publicity
Customer relations. Impress the 18-34 year old ecology minded, young urbanites with hearts of gold and wallets to match. In return they'll gobble up your products like Pez at a slumber party. Profit Profit Profit.
Cut the electric bill. It could create good PR. SOme of the energy efficient lightbulbs also can cut labor cost in replacing them.
Eco-friendly companies are envied by other non-eco-friendly companies because those eco-friendly companies catch the attention of the general audience. The reason behind that is, even greater than the war in Iraq, is the controversy over what is to be done, and how it is to be done about global warming.
On with the benifits that are more important:
You save some green by using less power (smarter paints, better insulated windows and walls, CFL's and other efficient light bulbs replacing incandecents, (here's a really big one if you are one of the lucky few in a sunny place): putting up solar panels on the roof or side of a building, or if it's a windy place and doesn't cause to much trouble: installing a wind turbine (if it's like at a store, then a vertical-axis wind turbine would probably be best becasue of the space efficiency)). Along with the green, you become green and become motivated to do preform more green actions throughout the community. People look up to those kinds of people (I know this very well becasue I do TONS of green stuff).
If you are in a city that has a neat system, you can actually get money for going green if the city has a program that encourages green living and gives money and other cool stuff. If you give stuff away as a green action (like if you give away a bunch of CFL's or energy-star stuff), then you can get a bunch of money back from the IRS because (depending on who you give it to), giving stuff away can lead to tax rebates/refunds (forget which).
That's about all I know (but I know there are TONS more benefits to going green!).
