Is it possible for a group of people to save the environment by annihilating all human beings?
Is it possible to somehow make and release a Spanish or avian flu type of virus to wipe out the entire human population?

The problem with a virus is that it may easily "jump" the species barrier and infect another organism that is not the target species. Certain virus seem to be lethal only to humans but they are either have long periods of dormancy - like HIV (AIDS) or they are relatively easy to treat with antibiotics. The only ones that seem to affect humans exclusively and are relatively un-treatable are rarely infectious enough to be much of a threat. It would take many years of research to find something that killed all humans and left the environment intact.
That said; It might be possible to make a virus that caused near immortality... No one would try to avoid it and it would likely need to trigger the expression of one gene - if the rhinovirus (common cold) was altered to include an extra mRNA package which were intended to express the gene, then you could cause humans to live long enough to have to deal with the environmental messes that they create which in time would force them to grow up and become responsible about how they treat the environment. They would have to live with their mistakes... a sort of karmic justice.
Probably not. Any attempt to wipe out all human life on Earth would probably take the environment with it.
Besides, what would be the point if there are no humans around to enjoy it?

For the question: No. You can't exterminate the human race with a virus, because there will always be some that will show resistance to it and they will then repopulate the planet with virus-resistant humans.
There are other ways, though, but i am afraid that giving this information to the likes of you might make me a joint participant in the anihilation of Homo Sapiens...

oh so ur a environmentalist and future mass murderer huh. well for an evironmentalist ur awfully not informed very well. if you were you'ld know that the global warming talked about is just big companies way of getting the public to buy freak hybrid vehicles and such. global warming/cooling has been going on since day one. ppl have been brainwashed into thinking its from factories;cars and burning stuff. mother nature puts more "greenhouse stuff" in the air. The biggest actual greenhouse substance is water vapor clouds and general humidity. volcanoes put more dust into the air than man could and the gases put out by a single eruption is more than most big cities could in a decade. this greenhouse effect has been twisted into a bad thing when its a good thing. does our planet's temp rise yes ;it also falls as well. without this greenhouse effect. we could either bake or freeze. also one of the biggest contributors to this so called "problem" is methane. think of all the cows;pigs;horses ; herds of buffalo in the wild and other wild animals. it wouldnt matter if everyone walked or road a bike
and if all factories where powered by solar energy or wind.
mans contribution to this so called problem is a tiny bit. get rid of humans besides being stupid do u actually think that as far as the planet goes we as humans are that important. even if every single human used a fossil fuel thing for everything. gas powered tooth brush gas powered bicycle and if everyone had a car it still wouldnt be a factor. the only way man could actually be any sort of real contributor to this made up problem. would be if we went to every volcano extinct or alive and dropped a nuke down it making it erupt. then dropped some more on the ice caps melting the ice. then we'ld have some blame to account for. so before calling urself an environmentalist do ur research
