Isn't today " don't buy gas day " ?
Answer:
Gassssp Ray your face is different now!
Um just so I don't get destroyed, I'll just answer with a "yes"
So, yes, it is Don't Buy A Monster Day.
Yes, it is. Although there's a lot of controversy on the economic impact of millions of people avoiding the gas station, I'm hoping (as an environmentalist) that it will make people use alternative means of transportation and think about their gas consumption.
yeah...dont buy any! we need lower gas prices!
who cares some people neeed drugs which involves buying gass so go buy some gass and go have fun .
Yes, but *we* all know it's not going to work, right? One day of me not buying gas, when I wasn't going to anyway does not mean diddly in the big scheme of things. You buy gas when you need it, not when you don't.
Everyone needs to drastically reduce their "need" for gasoline (and gasoline products) for there to be any impact at all! Bike three times a week instead of drive and you'll see how your need goes down. Now imagine if 3 billion people did that.
I pass by at least 4 gas stations on the way to work and I saw the same amount of ppl there today as I do any other day.
Yeah and you see the prices plummeting, right?
Never heard of it, im too rich for those kinds of things
Attitudes such as it won't work or you see the prices dropping or I'm too rich to boycott gas are some of the main reasons why oil companies think they can keep raising the prices. Hey, you have to start somewhere and if we have more don't buy gas days the prices WILL come down. I think every Tuesday should be Don't Buy Gas Day. Yes, some people will have to for emergencies but if enough people stop buying gas on a certain day of the week that's a message loud and clear regardless of whether you are rich or just don't care or believe you can make a change. Start it now and spread the word: What is Tuesday? Tuesday is Don't Buy Gas Day.
It is, but it can't possibly have any effect except to make the boycotters feel good. Big oil has deep pockets and its products are already in distribution, so a one-day drop in retail sales won't touch the suppliers, only the retail outlets, and their losses will be in convenience purchases, not gasoline itself. Anyway, we need gasoline, so what doesn't get purchased today will be made up tomorrow.
Probably a bigger impact would be generated by not buying anything made out of plastic, ever, since as much or more oil goes into plastic polymers than gasoline.
Driving 60 or below on the interstates would save a lot of gasoline! However, have you seen any people driving 60 mph on the interstates in the US?
While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph.
As a rule of thumb, you can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.20 per gallon for gas.
Yeah but 98% percent of america does not know about it or isnt going to do it. Viva Mexico we dont need gas in mexico we ride in horses, donkey, cows, and even pigs or somethimes we can just walk, we dont need no freaking gas.
Yes it is!
It is also national Bike to Work Day!
So if your not going to buy gas,you should bike around instead!!
yeah but to have an econimic effect will take mroe then one day if there was a whole week there be some changes
yes i agree this very good day to not buy gas.
yes, it is. but the gas companies know it as well, so what they might do it raise the price of a gallon by .01 tomorrow knowing that everyone that didnt buy gas today will buy it tomorrow.
if you want to make a difference, and you want to start a price war, you need to not buy gas from exxon/mobil. since they are the largest companies, if you dont buy from them, they will need to lower prices to compete with the lesser companies, who in turn would have to lower prices to be able to compete with exxon/mobils lower prices.
yes it is --people are trying to lower gas prices by having as amny people as possible not buy gas on the same day because this somehow puts a hole in the pockets of those who have money in control of gas prices..
but there are other ways of just simply not buying gas and being economically&environmentally friendly like carpooling, public transportation, owning cars that get better gas milage or even a solar car, or walking / riding bikes to not so far distances.
there is a very large problem w/ 'don't buy gas today' movements - everyone will either buy more gas the day before or the day after. and the boycott of exxon/mobil doesn't really work, either. where i live, most all the gas is pumped thru the same pipe line. i have seen the same truck drop at exxon, chevron and an independant all in one day. so, if all the gas is coming from the same supplier, who sets the minimum price that the station has to sell it for, what is the point in boycotting? it's all the same oil.
Yes!
Yes it is and I didn't. Gas went up here 4 cents over the weekend after having come down 2 cents the week before. Lets hope it works
It sure is. It's called, "gas-out day".
i don't believe not buying gas on a certain day will directly change gas consumption as people need gas and will get it the day before or after. however it should raise peoples consciousness about using more gas than they need to.
