How can we protect animals from being killed on the roads?
Answer:
Basic things like people not throwing out rubbish and food on the road from their cars will help save many birds and other animals that try to get to the food.
You could have roadkill Jesus bring them back to life.
Don't serve alcohol to any animal under 21., and if they appear to be drunk. Take their keys away.
Good question. Around here we have underpasses for amphibians and in the nature reserve nearby they have constructed new raised roads - basically built as if it were a bridge - where the natural wild life crossing points are allowing the animals to continue on their path and traffic goes overhead. Yes you can put fences or reflectors to scare animals back from a road but if they want or need to get across for food, migration or whatever, we should construct the roads to make it easy for them.
Put up fencing around curves and other high profile danger zones.
Post signs where wildlife is present.
Enforce the speed limit; lower the speed limit in wildlife areas at night or if roadkill numbers are unacceptably high.
Create sustainable wildlife corridors in urban areas.
Create a community brochure with roadkill information so people realize the cummulative harm caused by humans and their vehicles. And/or, put up a sign with the numbers.
Offer safety awards to drivers observing the speed laws and exercising caution.
Ban automobiles.
Sorry, i don't know. God bless you!
