What's with this whole global warming thing? I mean how are polar bears gonna be extinct in 40 years?

Answer:
The ice is melting sooner in the year and freezing later. Polar bears hunt food on the ice. So, they can't get enough food. Some are dying, but the real problem is their rate of having offspring is going down. So their numbers are shrinking.
They only say that because the polar caps are melting. This is normal. We already know that the poles shift over time. They can't "slip" into their new positions, they have to melt and then they'll refreeze after a while.
Don't you know the Republicans and Conservatives (the evil incarnations!) are the one's against the world...you see we nice, ultra liberal hippies, know what's best for this world...we must save the bears! Hell forget civilizaton let's save the world!!..
well with all of the green house gasses the world is slowly warming and because the polar bears need to have a very cool enviroment and polar bears are already going extinct so if there habitat is being distroyed they will be extinct with in 40 years.
The truth is, in spite of what alarmist claim, it is a hard life to be a polar bear or any other wild animal. It relies on finding food regularly. If it gets injured, it may die. If it encounters a bad winter or summer and doesn't find enough food, it dies. Polar bears survived through previous warm periods and there is no reason to suspect they won't survive this one. Climates and habitats always change and only the fit survive. It is tough world out there. Be glad you are a human.
Polar hunt for their food on the ice. global warming is causing the ice caps to melt. this means that there will be less ice for the polar bears to hunt on.

we talked about this in my astronomy class. my professor said that scientist have actually found polar bears eating each other.

this is some really scary stuff.
I think AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH addresses the polar bears. They live on the ice, and the ice is breaking up. Many of them just drown. Baby bears are separated from their mothers. It has also affected the food that is available to them. Watch the movie.
The global warming is causing the ice sheets in the Artic to melt. However, the polar bears depend on fish to eat. But to reach the fish they need to be able to travel out over the ice sheets. Thus, no ice sheets, no food--and so they'll starve.

In a normal (natrual) period of global warming, changes like this take centuries--more often thousands of years--to occur. That gives species time to migrate, find new food sources, etc.--time to adapt. But the current global warming is caused by our technology (specifically the main culprit is the CO2 emissions)--and is occuring very quickly--the effects are hitting in just a few decades. And thats just not enough time for polar bears (and many other species) to adapt.
Thier native land the ice/snow area is melting and not re-generating. They will have not ice cave or snow cave to protect the young from the male polar bears.

All this melting is resubmerging past trash dumps in those areas. So the bears get into it and get sick.
the ice in the arctic is melting. they are losing land. by then most of their land will be gone. they will drown.
The ice caps are melting and polar bears need the ice caps to survive, if the ice caps melt then the polar bears have to swim for miles and miles to reach land but then they will be exhausted from swimming and drown. It also has a huge effect on us too, if the ice caps keep melting the water levels of oceans, seas, channels, and gulfs and flood major cities like Miami, Los Angeles, Beijing, Hong Kong, etc. will be flooded.
Because there won't be any polar ice in 20years
