does anyone know a website that lists wild berries from minnesota? i have these thorny bushes out back that have green round berries on them. the green berries eventually turn purple. i have no clue what these are.

Answer:
Gooseberries I have not found a picture of the plant yet and there are a couple of types
My parent's have those too and for the life of me I can't recall the name , But here's a link with differnt wild eadiable berries
But if you can't find it there - I just put 'wild berries" into my search bar and looked at differnt sites

I had the same thing in my yard as a kid. I lived in WI, but most plants are common to both regions. They are actually a form of raspberry. The thorny stem at maturity, if i remember correctly, is a bluish or purplish color, and leaves are fairly bright green. If these are the same plant, and it seems to be, they are actually quite sweet and tasty.

We used to pick them on occasion and make jelly out of them. I loved it. They make a great snack. Don your jeans and long sleeve shirt and get yourself a bucket.
