Fire is part of the natural process. Heat releases seeds that germinate and growth begins. People that would set a fire intentional or not are changing nature and are criminal. If you build in this area and do not make the fire potential part of construction plan your home will burn and nothing will be left. So my answer is be prepared and have a plan to put fires out as soon as you can. Use the infrared tech. pictures from sate-lights and get to the fires fast.

Burn of area's with a fire wall by cubic sectors, that way I f a fire starts it will only burn that small sector! It's a lot of work!

People can manage their land better. Remove brush and dead trees from a 100 foot radius around their house. Thin live trees (especially small ones) within 30 feet.
Poor property management was a major reason for the damage. And then some of those people had the nerve to blame environmentalists.

They already so what they can (remove dead trees, for example), but forest fires happen. They can't be prevented altogether, and if you live within a forest you run the risk of losing your home in a fire. That's the simple reality of it.

Allow for thinning of the understory. Selective cutting of the forest to also reduce timber loads. Use the timber products and the biomass to create energy thus reducing both fire danger and oil dependence. Zero tolerance program for those who start a forest fire be it accidental or intentional.

The problem isn't the fire it's the homes and businesses that have been built there! Did you know that some trees require fire in order for their seeds to open? No Fire, No Open Seeds, No New Trees! Fire happens all the time in forests and it's part of the cycle of life, it's good and natural! Thats why they let fires burn themselves out in the national parks!
The real problem is people build themselves multi million dollar homes and then think they have some right to interfere with the natural process! Sorry it doesn't work that way!
The answer to this "problem" is to let the fire burn down the houses and then NOT REBUILD THEM! The forest will survive and the homeowner can move back to the city where they came from!
