There are hundreds of sites out there which should help you.
This website should tell you all you want to know about smoking and its effects on people.
There is a lot of information out there on this topic, but it can be confusing trying to figure it all out. I found some sites that give some really good information on what you're looking for.

Check these out:

1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/no_smoking...
2) http://www.meds.com/lung/smoking/environ...
3) http://www.cancer.org/docroot/spc/spc_0.

Hope you find what you're looking for! Good luck!
The effects of second-hand [passive] smoke have been greatly exaggerated by the anti-smoking crowd and most studies to the contrary have been suppressed. If smoke is bad then it must affect the first set of lungs it goes through in concentrated form more than a second set it goes through in a very diffused form. Yet the anti-smokers have it reversed. They say that being in a room with a smoker, during the time he smokes one cigarette, is more dangerous to the non-smoker than to the smoker. The smoker gets a higher concentration ratio of smoke to air than the non-smoker, yet they say he is safer. Nonsense!

Also they really have it in for tobacco smoke, the smoke from a particular plant leaf, yet ignore other types of smoke from other leaves. They see nothing wrong with marijuana smoke or tree leaf smoke. There is an agenda at work, hypocrisy and misinformation.

It will probably take some searching on the Net to find the opposing views, but I have heard they exist. The Consensus has had more time to destroy these opposing views than it has had to destroy those opposing GW.

I do not smoke, but I can stand an occasional whiff of tobacco smoke without going crazy and demanding that no one smoke around me. If I find the smoke to be more than I want to put up with, I can always leave and avoid going there again. I do not have the right to tell other people to stop using a legal product. I do have the right to say they can't smoke in MY restaurant, but I do not have the right to say they can't smoke in the restaurant across the street, in HIS restaurant. Only the owner of a business should make that decision, then the customers decide which to go to and economics will dictate the result. And just because I can smell some tobacco smoke does not mean I am being poisoned.
Well it was in the telegraph that birds are learning to use cigerette smoke to smoke the lice out of their wings. Someone was saying how they saw some hanging out at train stations and everytime someone threw a cigerette butt down these birds would start flapping over it. Have a look at the daily telegraph website.

My husband died through smoking and left me widowed with two young children who also developed asthma along with me through the passive smoking.
