Why didn't people think before making cars?
Answer:
As much as some people believe cars cause problems, cars were invented originally to SOLVE problems. Sometimes when there is an invention that some see as harmful, you cannot negate that good has also come of it.
The technology saved far more houses and businesses from going up in smoke because an automotive firetruck can travel much faster than a pair of horses and can carry more payload. The same goes for saving lives with ambulances.
As long as fuel was available, a car could travel a longer distance in a day than a horse, and not to mention that city life could be very hard on a carriage horse. They didn't go for a few hours and switch off with another horse like carriage rides at a tourist attraction - they were hired cabs that had to wait for hours for fares and had to work countless hours to pay their lease on the cab just like city taxicab drivers today.
Cars made neighbors and families that lived miles and miles apart much closer together.
There were cars that used steam, and early electric cars, but they didn't prove to be as efficient or practical as cars that used oil and gasoline and that is what won out. (until the next thing comes along)
The inventors never imagined that there would someday be multiple cars per family, nor is that something they had the context to ever imagine.
It's possible that some scientists knew the far-reaching effects that automobiles would have on our enviornment, but I think that at that time, in light of the fact that the car was such a new and seemingly successful business venture that manufacturers made excuses such as it won't be THAT BAD. Besides, caring for our enviornment has never actually been a law or anything (although it should) and people do like to make money.
let m etell you that the basic human instinct is to have a more easier life, at first it doesnt seem so harmful ha?? But humans dont really know how to evolve with out harming other ones. Someone thought about creating cars many years ago. actually about 300 years ago. Leonardo Da Vinvi, but he did realiza the damdge it would meke to society, so he left the plans hidden without finishing them. Smart guy hu??
everything causes problems, and as technology increases, many, but not all, of these problems are resolved. when cars were invented, they were invented for practicality. also, people weren't very environment-conscious back then. but you can't blame them. where would the world be today without cars? cars and buses and boats and all other exhaust-producing gas-consuming vehicles. would you really want to live in a world where we relied on animals and bicycles and our own physical bodies for transportation? you probably wouldn't. just be glad that cars are improving and beginning to be less burdensome to the environment.
How would they? Hindsight being 20/20 we can see the issues, but back then? They did'nt have the frame of reference, or sheer numbers that we have today. It's the same as when a class of children writes down predictions of what the world'll be like X-number of years in the future. It's all guesswork.
and why didnt they think before making guns or the nukeular bomb or hey why didnt humans think before craping upthe earth, wiping out species and making war, the answer my fellow human is that they are stupid and have no long term self preservation for thier race
wut problem? the new law that u have to pay to get in mdtown?
Back a hundred or so years ago, science knew virtually nothing about global warming. Those who made cars even knew less. Both had no idea of the impacts the car would have on the world since the science to measure CO2, SOX, CO in the atmosphere didn't exist.
Finally, the answer could also be directed to you to provide more understanding. For every mistake you made in life, why didn't you think about ALL the consequences before you made the decision? We all would have to have a pretty good crystal ball in able to determine the exact outcome in the future.
Keep one thing in mind. Hindsight is 20/20. Foresight well into the future is a guess at best.
because they never think of side effects
Even though the discoverers are the main reason behind every invention. The people who provide the investment for their research have a major influence.
I guess all the automobile related researches are funded by the big oil industries, who also have a major influence in the government.
So it does make sense for them to invest in something that will make money for them.
So it is not the scientist are not the ones to be blamed for. If you remember we had electric cars few years back. Where are they?
I am sure Mr. Ford had no idea about Carbon Credit and the Theory of Global Warming. I mean the car just came up a few years after oil was found in texas.
I doubt if Henry Ford was thinking of the impact cars would have on the environment. Would you rather ride in a horse drawn carriage?
Cars are really only HUGE POLLUTERS in the US a lot of other developed countries have very efficient cars. The technology for very low or no emission vehicles has been around for decades. Why hasn't it caught on in the US.
M O N E Y. too many people make money off of fossil fuel. When this is changed (not in my life time) we will have cut our pollution from vehicles way down or eliminated it.
ok imma make it as simple as possible .. all they wanted was MONEY ... its the plain truth
They didn't care.
Let me ask you a question... do you drive a car? if yes, please think about the question you are asking and the time the car was created.
in the past, life was difficult and everyone wanted to have a blissful and happy life and also a comfortable life but didnt think of the consequences hence they made cars without thinking how much environmental damage it can cause
I don't think it occured to them and if it did don't u understand what they wanted MONEY$ THAT"S ALL THEY DON"T CARE what are they thinking " oh who cares I won't be alive" it is truly sickening and I am SO GREEN I am trying my best to help the world be a better place w/ recycling, well water, paper, and used things! I am almost to the point where my family is saying that we will buy a green car
MARK MY WORDS if my first car isn't green I am not accepting it !
I don't think that 100 years ago that they realized that cars would be such a problem. Look at Diapers, plastic and Styrofoam, they are all problems that we have now and they are much newer then cars. Also look when they first invented X-rays, people could go to fairs and carnivals and see there bodies x-rayed.
