From an email:
Black and White (Under age 40? - You won't understand)
You could hardly see for all the snow,
Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go.
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
"Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet."
Depending on the channel you tuned,
You got Rob and Laura or Ward and June.
It felt so good. It felt so right.
Life looked better in black and white.
I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys,
Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys,
Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train,
Superman, Jimmy and Lois Lane.
Father Knows Best, Patty Duke,
Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too,
Donna Reed on Thursday night! -
Life looked better in black and white.
I wanna go back to black and white.
Everything always turned out right.
Simple people, simple lives..
Good guys always won the fights.
Now nothing is t he way it seems,
In living color on the TV screen.
Too many murders, too many fights,
I wanna go back to black and white.
In God they trusted, alone in bed they slept,
A promise made was a promise kept.
They never cussed or broke their vows.
They'd never make the network now.
But if I could, I'd rather be
In a TV town in '53.
It felt so good. It felt so right.
Life looked better in black and white.
I'd trade all the channels on the satellite,
If I could just turn back the clock tonight
To when everybody knew wrong from right.
Life was better in black and white!

Pass this to someone (over age 40, of course), and brighten their day by helping them to remember
that life's most simple pleasures are very often the best!
I remember when a candy bar was 5cents a bag of chips was 5 cents and a bottle of pop was 15 cents. I bought penny candy when i was a child. That was the good old days.
I remember when it was okay to smoke. Driving drunk, cops would tell you to go home. The food you ate had nutrients. The water you drank didn't taste like anything. You had no secrets because all of your neighbors already knew them.

I remember when Elvis was alive and well? I remember when we honored our Veterans. I remember the Chicago riots. I remember when 2 parents lived in the home and only one worked. I remember when kids listened to them.

I remember staying outdoors all day on summer vacation and never being bored. I remember having time for things other than work.

I remember being surprised by violence in the home. I remember when murder on the news was always in another state. I remember when you stole something you had to take it back and apologize. I remember being happier then.
i remember when i didnt have to worry about global warming or foreign wars
I remember when you were just an A, DD. That's been a while! *lol*
I remember when recycling wasn't the norm in Seattle. I used to collect my neighbors' newspapers and cans and save them up and my parents would take me to the recycling place where I'd cash in. They paid like pennies a pound, but the stuff was getting recycled and I was getting paid, so it was a good setup. It was a bit devestating for me when recycling bins came and ruined my business, but it's good to know that people are very vigilant about recycling now (again, in the Seattle area).
What do i remember? Well in twenty years i want this to be on the the headlines of the New York Times!

In 2007, the global warming trend turned around. People all around the world worked together to keep this world spinning. Every person, small or big, rich or poor, helped the environment by doing small things like turning off their lights at night and walking to the grocery stores. While some people sat at home watching tv and eating potato chips, others chose to act out against global warming. Together these people rose awareness about the vastness of the problem that faced them and began climbing the mountain that would eventually lead to where we are today. Our atmosphere, spotless. Our cities, litter free. If those people 20 years ago hadn't started climbing out of the crater they had dug then today we might be falling of the map. Thanks to all those people who chose to make life better for everyone!
