Air Pollution and Environment Protection From Car Industries?

With all the upcoming news about how G8 is trying to solve the air problems and temperature rising issues of the Earth, isn't the solution been already presented in front of them?
One may ponder over the 3 questions I am trying to make sense over myself.
1. Japanese car firms already coming out with technology in 2001 with the introduction of cars with no fuel intake at all - all with the technology of using solar panes underneath car roof with batteries recharged by heat energy and can last up to almost 14 hours of non stop travelling. But no car dealers are coming out with the idea to commercialised these cars at all.
2. Taiwan minister on recent news of travelling in his new car with fully usage of solar powered batteries intake - if it appear on news, then why is the idea of commercialising these great technology upfront in Asia?
3. With all the funds around the world for scientist to work out with making solar powered products to help environment, is it all just talks?

Answer:
You're incorrect. You can get enough solar energy from current panels to run a car unless you let the batteries charge for a month. It's just not physically possible based on the energy avaialable per square foot of solar energy.

Solar has a lot of potential, it just doesn't have it like you seem to think.
you should really pose this question to the oil companies. Big business rules the free world.
We have the technology and the ability to sustain without the oil, but then where would they get their money?
For the amount of money that we spent on the Iraq war we could have installed enough wind turbines in the United States to produce enough electricity to replace all of the gasoline used for transportation.

The electricity could be used to power electric cars, generate hydrogen electrolytically from water to power a car with hydrogen or both.

This would eliminate our dependence on foreign oil, defund the terrorists, improve our balance of payments, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by an enormous amount.
The worst emission period for any vehicle is when 'trapped' in slow moving or stationary traffic. Flexible working hours and 21st century traffic management systems like 'tidal flow' would reduce this burden dramatically. A brand new railway system might remove much of the heavy-vehicle traffic which does away with product mangement in favour of 'just-in-time' deliveries. One train driver (per set period) and hundreds of tons of freight can travel safely maintaining steady speeds 24 hours a day. Electronically controlled routing is well within our capabilities. The need for significant progress is crucial and well overdue. Resistance to change is incredibly damaging
