Should we put an end to all this excess travel?

Each year millions of people travel millions and millions of miles needlessly for things like vacations and holidays. How much smaller would the American carbon footprint be if this were not so?

I'm not worried about my huge carbon footprint..You are trying to tell people not to take vacations or to travel..You and your ilk are crazy
People should be free to travel if the cost reflects the environmental damage done ... no more tax free fuel for airlines !

And the first place that excess travel should be cut is in going to Global Warming Awareness concerts. Like this weekend's. Those morons that are promoting it should tell everyone to stay at home and and watch it on Pay Per View or wait for the inevitable DVD.
So short sighted. What happens when people don't travel? People don't spend money. When people don't spend money local economies die. Enough local economies die, the countries economy starts to die. A weak economy is a weak country. A weak country is prime to be "taken over". Hello Islam.
No we should not--we need alternative and efficient sources of energy. Those will have the added bonus of promoting economic growth.

What we DON'T need are busybodies deciding to tell other people how to live their lives, whether they can take a trip, etc. Such people don't ccare about the environment--or about anything except bullying other people to make themselves feel important.
We don't have to stop living to fight global warming. We just need to do things more efficiently, and there are plenty of ways to do that.
Eliminate the need for travel. Move closer to your job. Only walk there and back home.

I'll travel though, because I enjoy it and it's my right as a human being. See "right to the pursuit of happiness"
