Is Live Earth going to be energy efficient?

While the whole concept of the 'Live Earth' concerts seems like a cool idea to promote awareness of the climate crisis, is it really energy efficient? Is the whole event just going to add to the problem? Even if they use alternative methods of energy, isn't it a hypocritical event? Are these concerts going to help anything or are they just trying to make 'awareness of the climate crisis' popular?

Answer:
I wonder how many of the promoters and artists routinely use private jets, limos or SUV's, petro-fueled heating/cooling in their mansions...

I wonder that the combined 'carbon footprint' is...if there were such a thing, that is.
Bleeding-heart, "Save The Animals, Save The Earth, Damn The Evil Humans" liberals are always hypocritical.
Probably not. But, honestly, I don't know, maybe it is going to be really energy efficient. Who isn't to say that they got the energy they use for the concert from solar panels, eh? Who knows...
These concerts don't DO anything. It is just a big PR stunt by those involved. Just watch, after all this is done, the promoters will claim that no money was made, so they will need donations to 'offset their carbon footprint'.

Mankind is part of nature. We didn't land here from Mars.
It does not matter....Why..?
Because if only one out of a 100 attendees get convinced and actually get aware of some of these problems then slowly and eventually there will be enough voices to effect a change in what we, humanity, are doing to our Home Planet.
And if a concert is the ONLY way to attract the younger generation, then by all means...LETS DO IT...!!
Let me know if you would like some published photos for evidence...
The concerts are environmentally friendly. For example:

"All electricity that powers the shows will be from renewable sources, either through utility supplied renewable energy, biodiesel generators, or renewable energy credits."

For more information, read the event guidelines at the link below. Making people aware of the climate crisis is an important task, and thus these concerts are helping. I don't see why you think they're hypocritical.
I believe they use renewable energy when they can. But as you know it takes money to make money so with that thought in mind. The only way to let people know there is a problem is to get out there and tell them. If everyone just sets back with the frame of mind that if they go tell anyone about the problem they are adding to it by using gas to get there.. Well nothing will every happen an things stay the same as getting worse.

Yes Gore did ride in a Jet to get places. What if he had not? He would never gotten his messsage out to people. I guess to get bio fuel to put in his jet it is going to take a little use of the bad stuff to get people to start makeing the bio fuel.

So it is a cool idea and it is the only way we have to do it. Even if it does make matters worse for the minute it will get better by doing this.

Did you know that if everyone were to go solar even if it don't produce at night we still would not need a Nuke plant? Hydro would be able to cover the needs the solar could not.
The many posts about the Live Earth concerts are absurd. We don't have to stop living to fight global warming.

The same goes for pretending that Al Gore's personal life has anything at all to do with whether global warming is real.

Forget about Al Gore. Take the political stuff to the Politics section.
