What are you doing to help Global Warming slow down?
Answer:
i would like to say that I'm not doing anything, as personally I do not follow this new global warming idea that's on most people's lips.
We have been 'destroying the atmosphere' for hundreds of years and seen no change, so why now, why 2006/07 does the govenment decide to impliment all these actions, for something which apparently might happen over the next 200 years. I'll be dead by then, so even if it does happen, I'm not overally concerned.
My neibour the other day went through my rubbish, (i couldn't believe it) after i put ut out and he then had the cheek to come knocking on my door to tell me my plastics should be separated. This is what the world will end up like soon, a nanny culture.
I would like to bring your attention to this very well known fact about nature, which we humans also do:
When a beekeeper collects honey, he uses smoke to calm the bees down. This effect actually causes the bees to focus their attention away from the attacker, but to gorge themselves on the honey for purposes of keeping themselves alive in case the nest is destroyed.
We humans follow the exact same process in the case of an emergency, minor or not. The constant convincing of global warming is making us humans 'gorge' or invest in products to ensure our safe keeping. Thus keeping the government in pocket. This is most often seen on government adverts which are stratigicly timed. (ever noticed that you don't see any Co2 or emmisions adverts when the country is going through a bit of a bad spell of weather, but they're never off the tv when it's hot??!)
Anyway, I promise that wasn't a rant! It was just my response to the above question..!
I turnnnn off my komputor monitor while tyyyping meesauges on Yahpoo Anzers.
Dragging my feet.
I keep my lights, tv and computer off when not using them.
I walk whenever possible.
I wash my clothes in cold water and hang on a line to dry.
I use clothes towels instead of paper towels.
I recycle.
ITS THE FRIKIN SUN! WE DOENT CAUSE GLOBAL WARIMNG THE SUUUUN DOES YOU DOPES..givwe me all the thumds down as you want...
Global warming is indeed a serious matter. Here are ten simple things to do:
- Use compact fluorescent lights. They save 150 lbs. of carbon dioxide every year.
- Drive less. Every mile you don't drive, you'll save a pound of carbon dioxide.
- By recycling, you can save more than 2400 lbs of carbon dioxide a year.
- Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Your gas mileage will improve by more than 3%. You will also save 20 lbs. of carbon dioxide.
- Use less hot water. Install a low-flow showerhead. 350 lbs saved.
-Cutting down your garbage by 10% will save 1200 lbs of car.diox.
- Move your thermostat up two degrees in the summer, and down two degrees in the winter. 2000 pounds of the carbon dioxide saved.(per year).
-Plant a tree. It will absorb one ton of the carbon dioxide during it's life.
- Save thousands of lbs of carb.dioxide by turning off electronic devices when not used.

Recognizing that it is a natural phenomenon that humans have little impact on. It is funny to hear people who think humans have that kind of power and who beleive the earth and sun have none. Humans are responsible for about 1/3 of a percent of all greenhouse gases- do the math. How does that equate to it being man made?
I'm not using CFC's, and I recycle.
Solutions like banning CFC's actually do something. Banning, regulating, or discouraging carbon dioxide is painfully stupid.
Did you know that walking causes you to breathe harder, therefor your body produces more carbon dioxide? Honestly, what are trees made of? Every molecule of carbon came from the air.
I recycle and compost everything I can. I don't eat meat. I keep my car maintenanced and tires inflated. I bring my own bags to the grocery store. I buy organic whenever I can. Carpool. Unplug just about everything if I go out of town. Try to keep my a/c temp a little higher than I normally would. I plant lots of things. After doing small changes for a couple weeks it totally becomes second nature. And I think other people see me attempting to help out the planet- and it encourages them to make positive changes as well!

Things I've personally done:
Raised my thermostat from 75 deg to 79
Traded in my Ford Explorer SUV for a Toyota Matrix
Sold my other car
Use motorcycles for trips around town (they get about 50mpg)
Changed incandescent light bulbs to flourescent bulbs
Buy paper products that have at least 10% recycled materials
