What can we do to save Madagascar?

It is estimated that almost 80% of Madagascar's tropical rainforests have been slashed and burned by poor farming and mining techniques. Mineral runoff has further depleted the rich soils to the point that much of the land now lacks the nutrients that would be necessary to make a come-back. The island is rich in flora and fauna, including numerous species of primates.

Given all of this destruction, what can we do to save Madagascar and ensure that it does not become a desert landscape?

Answer:
Madagascar was a tropical paradise for millions of years
it is now denuded bare eroded mountains surrounded by muddy water devoid of fish
the animals killed or sold
it is far too late to save Madagascar
sadly enough
First you need to find environmentalist who are just or even more concerned about the state of Madagascar as you are. You need to get their attention first. Go to Madagascar and examine the damage yourself and take pictures and make a film. Then get the attention of the world. Make it as big as AIDS. then people might want to work with you. Who knows, George Clooney might want to help!

Best Of Luck
Based on all of the other US success stories around the world, I would have to say, leave them alone, they would be better off without us.
