Roughly, about how many trees are chopped down each day in the world?
Answer:
Good question. The most important data though is whether we are replacing what we cut down as fast. We could have a stable system and use trees as a resource if we can replace the board feet we cut, with new trees.

There is no way someone can get you these statistics. Unfortunately, other countries will not tell you how many trees they cut down. Many hide it from us since we are concerned here in America. Clear cutting is taking place at a rapid rate in places like Indonesia. Countires where there is poverty, they care more about creating wealth (jobs, crops, food, homes) than the health of our Earth. We need to all care worldwide to make a difference.
And remember not only are we losing trees by man cutting them down we are losing trees and vegetation by fires that are caused by man. Trees are our only hope for clean pure air. They take in Carbon Dioxide and give off Oxygen for us to breathe. If you cut down a tree, plant 3 in its place. And never remove our tropical forrests as this area is full of plants for medicine and well-being.
Only we (each one of us) can help our planet. We must do are part.

"Over the last five years, the world suffered a net loss of some 91,000,000 acres of forest, according to data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Each year, the world loses enough timberland to cover Panama, although, due to extensive reforestation, this net forest shrinkage has slowed slightly from the 8,900,000 hectares (one hectare equals 2.47 acres) lost annually in the 1990s. While this is encouraging, it obscures the sobering fact that gross deforestation has not declined significantly since 2000. "
not sure....but if you don't thin out our forest,s..nature will do it for us...as in the case of the spotted owl...we stoped deforesting so they had a place to live.then nature started a fire by lightning...the owl moved to the other side of the mountain [ he,s not dumb].we lost many tree,s.but from under the ash,s came new growth.seed,s lying in wait for many generation,s had sprung to life.starting a natural cycle all over again....I think were the dumb one,s.
