I need to find grants for riverfront park project and downtown restoration projects? Anyone able to help?

We are a non-profit 501c3 organization that is working to revitalizing our community. We need grant dollars to fund each project so that the citizens of the community do not have to have taxes increased and it will promote growth and economic development opportunities within our community. Specific projects include a riverfront trail, heating & cooling system upgrades for buildings built in the 1800's, downtown building resotration, and energy conservation.

Check with your local (state) heritage commissions on the availability of grants in your area. There are also many Federal grants available to communities looking to refresh urban areas.

I live in Australia and we have been doing the same thing here, reclaiming river banks and making nice bush lands and paths, with an amphitheatre.
Also restoration of buildings build in 1800's.
We are looking at anyone who is giving away money for land-com projects, a mine near where I live is being refilled with refuse from Sydney, so they are paying the mine, and the mine is putting the money back into the community, we have money from these people.
You have to be resourceful, approach companies, especially those in the area, as they will do anything to think that their areas are being beautified.
You just have to do the door knocking, and the pavement slogging, but you will find the money to do the job if you try hard enough, we have, and hope that is encouraging.
