I don't know if this is used elsewhere in the country, but growing up in Oregon I was always reminded of the 3 R's: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle".

if at first, it's not all used. try to use it again.

My Mom always said "Trash to one, is treasure to another". She was always "recycling" something she found that was thrown away. She would clean it up and either reuse it or give it away to someone else. So I guess my recycling slogan would be ."It all starts at home".
Heres one we use in New Mexico- Tas No Mas - which means throw no more.
