Enviromental Business Idea?
Some of the falls are right off the main highway and have become a busy spot frequented by numerous visitors and locals that hike to take a dip in the beautiful falls.
There is a fruit stand that sells banana bread, smoothies, fruit, and such, and some vendors who mostly sell beautiful handmade hemp,wire, and stone/shell jewelry.
I want to make something simple that people would want to buy that is simple and resourceful(ie uses what I have already).
What are your ideas? What do you think they would want to buy?

-the beautiful rain forest abundant with trees and plants
-basic art supplise
-blank cds
-old pentax mx slr camera
-very limited "student" budget
I was thinking of making and selling:
-photo albums (expensive/complicated to make/bind?)
-bookmarks (how do I laminate??)
-selling prints of my own photography (expensive up front)
-postcards?? (how do I make them hard
Answer:
A photo album with a local picture on or in the cover is a good idea. Something they can add their own vacation photos to.
They make lamination machines for home. I don't know how much they cost, but it seems like you would have to sell a lot of bookmarks to get your money back.
You could start small with selling prints. Get enlargements made at a local camera store until you make enough money to buy a good digital camera and quality photo printer. Sell some framed and some not framed. Can you make the frames? Learn how to cut the glass. It's not hard once you get the hang of it.
I don't know what kind of card stock is used for postcards. Maybe search the Internet for paper suppliers.
What kind of plants are around that you can sustainably harvest something from. There's a shop on Kauai that sells thing from Hawaiian artists. It's on the road between the airport and Princeville, in one of the towns along the way. If you can make it there, see what they have. Also along that road is a little stand that makes the best smoothies in the world!
I think the albums is your best idea up there. If you can buy disposable cameras in bulk, resell those, too. It could grow into something really big. Maybe eventually you could take a class on how to develop your own pictures.
Postcards are always great. Go to an office supply store and ask them how to make the postcards and find out what you would need. Go on line and search if you have no local office supply store.
I would create a relaxation cd online dowload songs on the cd, such as smooth music, NO SINGING, just a nice beat, SLOW BEAT. And create a photo album, and a air freshner and put it in a one kit thing. Like 25.50 per kit.
