Global Warming Question #3: Scientists claim that global warming is being caused by deforestation and the...?
Answer:
all good questions. unfortunately al gore doesn't get on Y!A, so he can't dance around.i mean answer your questions.
Warming is happening. That is a fact as seen by the melting of the polar cap.
However, you are trying to tie the global warming to one event -- that is a stretch. Deforestation and burning of fossil fuels are perhaps only two parameters in an equation with 500 variables.
Trying to correlate just one or two variables as the reason for the detected changes in global temperatures would not prove anything for me for either side of the global warming argument. We need to put more variables into the equation to satisfy me.
OK, slightly different answer.
There have been natural climate changes in the past of course.
For the last 100 years man's influence on the climate has been steadily increasing. Until about 40 years ago, natural forces still were the major force controlling the climate. At that point the peer reviewed data clearly show that man's emissions of greenhouse gases overtook natural forces as the most important thing.

The data is why (note especially the key word - quantitative, science is about numbers, not "logical" arguments):
"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Okay no offense, but you seem to be asking the same question over and over again in a somewhat different way.
They're saying that in 8 years scientists can tell when Global Warming is going to take full effect if we don't do anything about it.
Global Warming has been going on since the beginning of mankind. Only, people have only started to notice it about over a century ago. But then, scientists couldn't decide if it was Global Warming or Global Cooling (what a stupid name!).
The Media gets there "gold" from the "topic" of Global Warming since the late 1800's. But then, it was just like The National Enquirer saying Big Foot is going to marry Don King. They didn't believe it so they went on about there normal, happy lives. They died, then years and years later someone thought, hey, that scientist WAS pretty smart, I wonder if this theory is true! Then, they looked into his journal and tested some of his theories. Now this scientist tried to do the same and warn people but again, they didn't listen. And this has been going on from the late 1800's until now. People think that "Hey, it's just like what happened many times before us, I have nothing to worry about!"
Scientist hope to do something about Global Warming by 2015.
First of all, the burning of fossil fuels wasn't at a very high level until somewhere around WWII...
We also know that there are cycles to the temperature of the Earth.
If you look at the temperature measures available, you see that the temperature rise has been growing exponentially since around 1910.
The problem with your question is that in science, hardly anything is "for certain" because scientists rarely say that. Part of the scientific method is that a theory must be changeable according to new information. We know more now than we did 5 years ago about global warming, including about factors which are not manmade. The reason global warming is credible is that as we've discovered new evidence, it has fit the theory better and better.
The measurement of gravity is also not "for certain". We can't measure gravity, only describe its effect on other things. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But we might be wrong about its stength, and that's still a contentious issue in astrophysics...
So if you are looking for certain, you won't find it very much in science.
You are asking where the beginning of a logarithmic curve starts. For GW the widely accepted date is the 50s-60s. It is becoming known as the hockey stick curve. Lots of places you can look it up.
yes, it is true, and you missed the fact that global warming is also cause by human activity, and that people sometimes act loco and don't get it. i hope president bush is helping us stop it. Global warming has been going on before the industrial revolution, as far as i know. and yea, the world is going to have different temperature rates throughout the year
Seeing as there is no "certain" data, then global warming exists only in the minds and computer models of those who believe in this. Take a look at Bob's wiki graph, again. Whoa! Look at how the Greenhouse portion takes over and syncs up with temperature! But how does that jibe with your question about the man-made link? When man puts out less than half a percent of Greenhouse gases TODAY and we have been told that he has been constantly been increasing that percentage over the last century, then just how small was that previous percentage? A quarter? A tenth?
In order to quantify a source, you must first be able to verify it as a source, and that has NOT been done with respect to the man-made component of "global warming". How much credence has been given to the other +99% of Greenhouse gases, the bulk of which increase naturally with an increase in temperature as has been going on for billions of years? Very little, and only when it bolsters anthropogenic models of warming, as if the Earth simply ceded control once man had a way to trigger things. They refuse to consider the possibility that something has started a warming trend, increased Greenhouse gases (which NO ONE can tell you for sure how much heat it "retains" from the Sun within about 10 degrees C) and so we sit today. Why? Because they can't figure out a reason why. WOW. Good scientific method. We can't quite get our computer models to match up with the myriad natural variables, so let's just stick with convenient man-made sources that I can easily kluge. Riiiight.
Don't get them started on the thermohaline conveyor which has the ability to cycle heat AND CO2 with intervals as high as 1600 years. Can it melt the poles? Uh...yeah, that's part of its function. Can it control climate on a global scale? Yeah, that function thingy again. So why not incorporate it into the computer models? Let's not rush them, they haven't even figured out clouds. Oceanographers have been working on the conveyor for centuries and claim no complete understanding of its operation. Why should we believe that climate modelers have cracked it?
It is not the only reason ,but it its the one least talked about
MAN MADE CLIMATIC CHANGES
Man is responsible for much climate change it cannot be whitewashed by Global warming
If Global warming now also want to change the climate it has to stand in line
because it is not the only one,
I went to the jungles of Oaxaca and discussed with the Natives the mountain before us ,Mostly deforrested ,scarred by landslides and dotted with madly steep corn patches (which only produced for 3 years ),and devoid of clouds.
They all agreed that the days were hotter ,there was less rain ,And the river was dry part of the year.
When they were boys ,the river was bigger and ran all year around, the mountain was always covered in clouds with daily rains .And the days were more bearable .
Their actions in the desperate plight to feed their enormous families of avarage 12 kids per family ,often much more ,had destroyed their home ground with indisputable climate changes.
They had changed their climate. This happens all over Mexico
In Africa I have seen lush wooded lands change into dessert within a few years by large invading comunities ,who devoured the trees for building and firewood ending up in a dessert with out water
and with a hot sun under which no new plantation was possible. The people had changed their climate, this happens all over Africa.
In Northern china two mayor dessert are merging and 900 vilages are buried under the dust ,thousands of refugee farmers who had changed their climate ,by intensive agressive agriculture are fleeing for their lives,
This happens all over the world .it happened in the 20ties in the USA has everybody forgotton that ,was this not a climate change ?
Granted the climatic changes are local ,but effects neighboring areas ,there is less rainfall, rivers dry up ,
Compare todays situation with what the place used to look like .
And understand how People have totaly changed their Environment and subsequently their climate
.
Add all of this together, from all over the globe, and calculate the results .Collectively because there is so much of it ,the global precipitation is affected,(the sweet water production) and so is the climate .
------------------------------...
Like Ghengas Kahn changed the climate when he burned all the forests and filled the wells with sand ,Like the Phoenicians changed the climate of lebanon to build the trading fleet .Like the Spanish climate was changed by using their forest to build the Armada ,
So are we today changing the climate by massive deforestation, agressive corporate farming (using chemicals),overgrazing ,overpumping deep subteranean waters ,ignorence and impartiality resulting in wide spread desertification and loss of arable soils

Global warming.carbon emisions ,polution ,sunspots ,solar flares, hairsprays , and skeptics are the rasberries on top
Seems as if America is trying to compete with Global warming
I wonder who will win.?
but who ever it is ,
the rest of the world looses.
We are in trouble, and if we can do something that will make it less ,we should try to do it .
And there are many things that we can improve on
so that ,we can at least last as long as posible .
If you want absolute certainty, go to church. Science is a self-correcting process, which means that there are no absolutes. (It also means it's the best means we have for discovering truth.)
Having said that, prior to WWII the increase in CO2 was a factor in global climate, but small enough to be swamped by natural forcings (primarily solar and volcanic). We can detect the fingerprint of anthropogenic CO2 in the climate back to the early 20th century at least (some studies to the mid-19th century), although natural forcings dominate until the late 20th century.

I can't confirm it.But I can tell you the main thing of Global Warming.
Global Warming is caused by us(humans).
Whenever use electricity, the Planet Earth will become warmer.
Sorry if my answer did not meet up to your expectations.
Thermometers are a fairly recent invention, but if you read back to accounts of weather, storms, etc. throughout written history you will see that the warming has been going on as long as mankind has had a written language. Along the Nile River where it is now all desert was once lush tropical forests. Water marks were left at the base of the Sphinx. What was changed there was that man decided to control the Nile for irrigation and other purposes and now there is a much hotter, drier climate. We have changed the waterways all over the earth. In Asia it is being done at a much faster rate than ever before. Look what we did with Tennessee Water Authority, the Rio Grande River, Colorado River and that is only the start of a long list of so called improvements to what nature provided. It is good to remember that it's not nice to fool Mother Nature because she has a few tricks of her own.
