Glaobal Warming: Did you know about the Coal Fired Power Plant in D.C.?

There is a Coal Fired Power Plant in Washington, D.C., which provides heating and other services to the Senate, the House, the Capital, and some other major government installations there. It pollutes the DC area air supply like crazy and should be the first item replaced by our US Government if we are really serious about Global Warming. Do you think they have plans to replace it now?

I can't imagine this is high in their list of priorities, the US Government's record on dealing with the iussues of climate change and global warming leaves a little to be desired to say the least.

When you look at what other world governments have done the US is lagging far behind. In other countries many government buildings are entirely powered by alternative enregy sources, many government officals have wind turbines on their offices and houses, drive hybrids or other economical vehicles, carbon offset their emissions etc etc.

Whilst other world leaders are taking positive steps to reduce emissions and to lead by example the Bush Administration, it appears, is doing next to nothing.

The government doesn't sit well with changes that make absolute sense. They are only concerned with themselves and the big businesses they cater to.
