What is the carbon footprint of the Live Earth concerts on 7/7/07?

Just wondering if all those stadiums will be powered by windmills or by solar power? Just think of all the fossil fuels being burned and released into the atmosphere to power the concerts, TV cameras, transportation to get people to and from the concerts. And this will be happening on every continent. I wonder how the stars of the show are getting to the venues? My guess would be private plane, even more emissions. I have yet to see a hybrid limosine.

Answer:
Probably hundreds of time the amount that Al Bore uses in his mansion.

Why does the main puppeteer not confirm to the standards that he preaches about?

Don't let these yahoo's fool you.they will spew TONS of CO2 into the atmosphere from their private jets, limo's to and from airports etc...

Heck just the lighting and amps will use tons. It's doubtful there is any way to determine that the power comes ONLY from renewable resources.

Heck even if all the cars ran on alcohol, we all know the scam that is. It takes 40% more energy to produce the alcohol than the energy it releases...

Don't believe half of this liberal nonsense.
I'm sure that they will buy their way off by saying they bought some trees some place. Not the trees are actually planted right off...they might get to it sometime in the next 100 years. Well that's the way Al Gore gets by the carbon footprint thing.
Why don't you take a look at liveearth.org and see their policy for yourself?

If you can't find it, here's the link: http://www.liveearth.org/green_policy.ph...

Yes, the electricity will be from renewable sources.
Yes, the ground travel will be from hybrids or high-efficiency vehicle (where possible).
The staff and artists air travels will be offset by carbon credits.

Of course an event like this will produce CO2, it's inevitable, but it's also very important to keep the momentum and continue to tell the world of the importance of this issue. I think this initiative is a great idea!
So very sad this world has become.
With Rio dropping out, a lot less. I guess they didn't have enough time to clear out some more rainforest to hold the event.
Live Earth organizers have hired environmental consltants to help them to minimize thier carbon footprint. You';d be happy to know that at least one concert is running 100% on renewables. The idea is to set a standards for all future concerts. Some of the things they're doing including stocking less plastic cups, using energy efficient bulbs, lowering the air conditioner.

The whole concept of a "carbon footprint" is to help individuals and businesses be more mindful of thier energy useage as well as help them reduce thier energy consumption-- not eliminate it completely or switch to unprofitable energy production.

You don't have to be a hippie to help save the Earth, BUT you do have to be an asshole to want to destory it.
crackaboy - You're right. But don't use profanity or they'll delete your answer. I'd go back and edit it.
