The world is not taking the threat of global warming seriously?

I want to have something for a debate

Answer:
The question about global warming and how to deal with it is complex, difficult and can be very scary if you choose just to listen to the "bad news" and not to all the possible solutions, so too many people just leave it with arguments like:

"There's nothing we can do about it"
or
"It would be too expensive to fix"
or
"It doesn't exist" (because the truth is too scary?)
or
"It's natural" (does this makes the consequences less scary?)

The worst part is that governments in different countries makes this a political game, pointing at each other and say "you have to move first, then we will start...", "you have to do more before we do more..." e t c

If you accept the fact that without the greenhouse effect on this planet, we would have an average temperature of -18 degrees Celsius, despite the solar radiation, instead of +14 which is the case now. How can you NOT believe that adding to the greenhouse effect doesn't increase the average temperature?
Is Big problem, Alf Garnett he Englishman, Visonary, he haf lots good idea he explane on TV and peeples laf at him, and Bernard Manning, they laf at him to be he rite. Mi Grantfarter he say I you want somthing taek serious have something serios to taek, it loses bit in translaet.
Well, when the chief supporter of this nonsense, Mr. Gore, being such a hypocrite and using many times the natural resources that the average person uses, why should anyone take him seriously?

We know the truth about alternative fuels like Methanol etc...

I believe we have to be responsible but global warming is cyclical and we'll soon be in a cooling period as we were in the 70's when the "scientists" predicted the next ice age!

Which is it? Global warming or ice age??
Yeah and now they say we're headed for another ice age as well. Where was all those SUV's during the dust bowl back in the 1930's? GW's another excuse to have us to pay another green tax that lines Al Gore's pockets.
Too much greed.
I'm curious as to how, or why we should take such nonsence seriously. 20 years ago (roughly), Al gore was running around saying that the earth was headed for an ice age because of our large vehicles. (Note to younger set: PC, or it's neautral termanology had'nt been invented yet.) I'm sure you can find it on youtube. We were "blocking out the sun" with our evil ways. The earth goes through changes as time goes on, and core samples from the northern ice shields have proven that over millions of years the temps of this planet fluctuate. Over 17,000 scientist's have openly stated that global warming is a sham. 400 years ago we thought the world was flat. One half a degree, in 150 years is'nt a cause for alarm. (Records on weather have only been kept about that long.) In ten years, Al gore will have a new scam to scare the younger people with, until then...Live your lives in peace.
That's all you're looking for? A debate topic?

Well, most terrorists will ramp up the terror when a threat is not taken seriously.
Most of the world IS taking it seriously, just not the US or Australia.

Unfortunately nobody seems to be proposing realistic solutions such as switching to geothermal power (could provide power for the entire world for thousands of years as well as being carbon neutral and using less water and land than coal or nuclear plants, also doesn't have nuclear waste and security issues like nuclear plants).
What do you need to debate! :)
