What are the best ways to reduce carbon emissions?

If you know the best ways to reduce carbon emissions, plrease tell me. Oh, and I'm not looking for those do at home things like changing your light bulb to a florescent light bulb.

Answer:
It sounds like you're looking for larger scale things that we need to do as a society? These of course have a personal component as well...

*Less frequent air travel - flights dump enormous amounts pollutants & green house gases into the air.
*Be willing to pay more for clean, renewable energy.
*Buy local goods - less transportation (eventually stores will stop buying things that don't sell)
*Reduce the dependence on personal vehicles - in the US, almost everywhere I've lived has been very vehicle-centric. Sidewalks and bike lanes don't exist where they are needed, mass transit is too inconvenient, etc.
*Invest in technologies that give us clean energy! (wouldn't it be great if the IRS gave you the option of ear-marking your dollars for something specific like clean energy funding?)
Don't eat cabbage.
Drive a hybrid vehicle or switch to public transportation, walking, bicycling, etc. Plant more trees - at least they put back what you may take away.
Stop using all means of carbon based fossil fuels.
keep your vehical tuned up
The do at home things are the best ways to drop your footprint, but other than that you need to address you car.

You can get a hybrid, or use oxy-hydrogen addons, fuel catalyst and of course change your driving habbits.

You can use alternative energy, buy "good" carbon offsets, get involved in permaculture, green building, etc..
stop breathing!
We are a society of convenience and consumption. If we as a mass society would really follow the three R's (reduce, reuse and recycle) and buy locally we really could reduce emissions. Both, industry and transportation of goods produces massive amounts of carbon emissions.
To reduce carbon emission, we have to first evaluate the main sources of carbon emission in an area. Mean a kind of emission inventory, most of the countries do have their emission inventories for greenhouse gases.

the next step is to focus on the sector contributing the most. The major step can be taken to reduce emissions will involve;
1) Transport Sector
i) Switch traditional fuel to CNG or hybrid fuels
ii) Make public transport efficient and cheap to reduce the number of private vehicles.

2) Energy
i) use Solar and wind energy and other renewable energy resources having less emissions.
ii) Conserve energy

3) Agriculture
i) Forest are the sink of carbon dioxide. Agrforestry can help reducing emissions.
