Why did they change Trash Can to Recycle Bin on computers?
Answer:
On Macs it's still a trash can. Windows uses a recycling bin to avoid patent and copyright problems.
like it matters.
Chill !
This is Microsoft garbage... They just hate being trashed, so they use recycling bin... Not even sure they know how to use it!
If you use a mac, it will still be a garbage can.
On windows vista, they make it cute, I guess it is just to show that data clusters will be reuse after deletion...
Most likely makes sense, but another good point is that the user can choose to resurrect files they originally threw into the bin..."recycling" them, in a way!
Lol. Good point.
Well, you do reuse the disk space when you overwrite the files...
politics nothing else ,to go with the times.
the old files go in the same airfills
have you noticed that the files we got now are cheaper because they are recycled
ofcourse not
life is a fantasy and lies
,written by the illuminati
and we buy every inch of it
It was to be politically correct. They used to call it the trash in windows 3.1.
More than likely 2 reasons. 1) they thought "Hey, sometimes you might want to pull stuff back out, in case you accidently delete it", thus recycle bin. The other reason is probably to futher stand away from Apple's trash can which acts much the same way. It's all semantics.
I think I'm right in saying that the trash can just deleted files without question. The recycle bin can restore them again... hence 'recycle'.
There are a number of reasons. One being that "Trash Can" is a very American expression and MS, bless Bill's soul, wanted, at the time, to be more International (thought that it would get him more money, I suppose).
Another reason is that it went from a "throw out" later bin to a repository where you could recover the files. So that, if you made a mistake in ditching the file, you could get it back.
It isn't so obvious nowadays because you can set recovery points and the computer will get back a lot of your deleted files from the "Recycle Bin" without you knowing what is going on.
Unfortunately, you can loose a lot of hard disk space by not removing the rubbish from the bin.
hehehe..how did that even come to ur mind??
i agree with ALX...his answer sounds reasonable...
Good catch! Don't get me started on this hidden industry...
well i think its much more friendly and encourges more people to look twice at what they have
yeah... i agree it is probably to be eco-friendly and politically correct.
