Global warming ignorance! Why won't the world change?

The only way that we can prevent Global Warming due to the release of carbon dioxide by the burning of fossil fuels is to ban the burning of fossil fuels worldwide.
According to the IPCC report we must cut carbon dioxide production worldwide by 90% of present production to stop Global Warming.
The only way that we can get a reduction that large is to ban the use of all fossil fuels worldwide. The reductions in carbon dioxide emissions that we get from Hybrid cars, more recycling and turning out the lights are too insignificant to even make a difference.
Unfortunately the People's Republic of China has stated that they will not cut back their use of fossil fuels, much less eliminate the use of fossil fuels altogether.
Even if we were to get every other nation on the face of this earth to stop using fossil fuels, the amount of carbon dioxide produced by the People's Republic of China alone is enough to cause Global Warming.
We do not have the political will or the military capability to enforce a world wide ban on the use of fossil fuels.
Let's think about what it would take to ban the use of fossil fuels just in the United States.
First we would have to ban all forms of motorized transportation.
We would have to ban all automobiles, motorcycles, motorscooters, trucks, buses, trains planes and shipping.
Next we would have to ban the generation of electricity with fossil fuels.
Next we would have to ban all manufacturing, steel making and cement making.
Next we would have to ban the cooking of all food, the heating of homes, offices and factories, even when the temperature outside is below zero.
Next we would ahve to ban the heting of all water.
We would have to learn to bathe in cold water.
We do not have the political will to do this.
Therefore we do not have the political will to do what is necessary to stop Global Warming.
We must accept the fact that Global Warming is inevitable.
We must begin planning how we will ameliorate the effects of Global Warming.
The seas will rise.
Fortunately most low lying areas can be protected with dikes similar to those they have in Holland to hold back the sea.
We will need to help poor countries with dikes.
For those areas that cannot be protected by dikes we will need to help people move to higher ground.
Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We will need to upgrade our disaster preparedness for hurricanes and we will need to help poor countries with their disaster preparedness for hurricanes.
There will be areas stricken with drought. Fortunately desalination plants can produce fresh water from brackish water and seawater. We will need to help the poor countries with desalination plants.
Essentially Global Warming cannot be stopped. Instead we need to plan how we will ameliorate the effects of Global Warming.
If you believe that most of China, London, and Southern US will be underwater by 2050, then it's over. We can't stop it.
I guess that means it's time to party!
knucklehead. I AM. I'm driving more, polluting more, and so on. Afterall, in the 70's we were doomed to global cooling, so we wanted to stop pollution and emmissions. Obviously we did too good a job, so we need to pollute more, to cool the earth down.
Get with reality. If the earth is really as old as you evolutionists say, then it's going to take more than humankind to destroy it. If you believe it's created by God (as I do) then shame on you for implying that God's craftsmanship is poor.

I'm not a scientist, so to be perfectly honest, I have not gathered research on the direct effects of global warming.
I can only go by second-hand resources, what I read, etc.
Therefore, here's my argument to people who do not believe global warming is a problem, and it stumps them every time.
If we attempt to fix global warming now (hybrid cars, being more fuel-efficient, finding ways to be less dependent on oil, using less fossil fuels, etc), what harm can it do? It can only do good for our planet. Even if it turns out global warming is a hoax (yeah, right), we will have done nothing but good for our planet. How can anyone say we shouldn't spend the money to improve our planet, whether it's for the benefits of reducing global warming, or simply helping our planet thrive?

It is IMPOSSIBLE for sea level to rise as much as predicted by the global warming alarmists. First off, most of the ice of both poles is FLOATING. Melt floating ice and water level does not change. There goes 80% of thier expected rise in sea level.
Fore sea level to go up the other 20% of their predictions... ALL water would have to come out of the atmosphere at once and all the water in every lake and river would have to be in the oceans, not in the lakes or rivers. There goes 80% of the rest of their expected rise...
That assumes that the global warming alarmists are correct and that there will be no water in the form of ice or snow ANYWHERE on the earth ever again... so they'd have to prevent winter from happening.
If there's never any more winter... then 90% of Canada, Alaska and Siberea would become prime farmland... That would be a good thing. Far more green stuff growing.
The potential positive effects of global warming could outweigh the negatives. (assuming global warming is real)
New Orleans would be no loss... its going to sink into the gulf of Mexico no matter what happens to sea level... its been sinking ever since they started building on the SWAMP. At current rates of sinking, new Orleans will only be able to be toured by glass bottom boat within 50 years. Possibly you'd need a submarine to get deep enough to read the street signs.

Hmm... Looks to me as if you've outlined the solution to MANY problems. Global Warming isn't a problem, its a SOLUTION! Fewer people = smaller stress on the earth.

People who take Al Gores movie as gospel are the ignorant ones. Even if you believe in the theory of man made global warming, he has exaggerated the effects.
The sad thing is that many people probably will have to just "get off the earth." It happened during the "little ice age." The vikings all died out when Greenland re-froze, Europeans died out because of plague and famine, the Mayans likeley died out due to drought. It's very pessimistic to say this but I'm not sure all these deaths can really be avoided.
The New World Order, if there is truth in that (which I believe there is) will supposedly take over after such a reduction in population.
I think why people are so anti this concept is not that they don't agree that it is bad for the environment but they are sick of the eco-nazis, the extreme animal right groups that put animals before people and the crazies that think burning a candle is going to add too much CO2 to the atmosphere. They are sick of companies going "green" just to make more money. Telling me to buy their crap because they don't pollute as much. When are companies going to stand up for people and offer crap that is not made by children or outsourcing our jobs to foreign countries. Where was global warming 20 years ago, oh wait 20 years ago everyone thought the world was going to freeze over. When does this stop? Who is telling the truth and who is doing this just to get more money in their pockets?
I completely agree that driving a SUV that gets 6 mpg is not only hard on the wallet but bad for the earth. I can understand that, im not stupid. I just dont like people trying to brainwash me into theories such as dont burn candles or people exhale too much might as well have population control.

In case of Global disasters, such as flooding, mass displacements of people are impossible ,there are no places to go ,because other people are already there
And never can huge crowds of migrants be watered and fed.
Governments are aware of this and never will open this can of beans ,it would mean alround destabilisation of government ,riots and maybe even revolutions could be the results.

It was said at a Bilderberg meeting in 1998 in Copenhagen ,that their Agenda demanded a reduction of 60% in the world polulation
And this does make sense because future watershortage and food production are not gonna satisfy the world demand.
Further more to publicly accept awareness means having to change and these changes will cut heavily into profits.
The church also does not favour concepts that contradict God ,and the people in power dont want to loose manipulable believers.
These are also some of the reasons that Global warming is discredited and ridiculed.
All we can do is behave responsible around where we live to make things as best as possible for as long as posible
