Where would one find carbon footprints for the construction of power plants?
Answer:
If you read my posts you'll know I'm an adamant environmentalist, too. But I don't get fooled by terminology and misdirected causes. Don't get obsessed with carbon footprint. You aren't going to save the world by obsessing over something you cannot change after the fact.
Is it the fault of the building that the concrete was delivered in trucks that burn fossil fuels? That the chemical process to create cement releases CO2?
For example, the largest coal fired plant in Canada (at one time "in the world") was demolished a couple of days ago, in about 5 seconds. It will take up to three years to remove the rubble. The plant isn't producing any pollution, the dump trucks are!
Look at the debate over Hummer vs Prius and you'll see that just spewing out carbon footprint numbers is worthless. Until you are willing to do a cost / benefit ratio there is no use even talking about it.
It's nice to see you are so concerned, but don't waste precious resources on a wild goose chase.
