What do you think we should do to solve the climate crisis?

Answer:
We can solve the climate crisis by also solving the energy crisis. We need to make the important moves away from non-renewable sources of energy toward renewables. It will be slow but we at least need to start.
What crisis? Everything is fine.
We can do lots of things to help solve the climate crisis.
We can:
-Recycle
-Buy a hybrid car
-Drive less
-Make a compost pile-- not only does it reduce the volume in landfills, but it also saves you big bucks on fertilizer!
-Turn appliances and lights off when you don't need them.
-Buy recycled
-Unplug chargers when they are not in use
-Encourage others to do these things
I see a climate problem that is not severe enough to be called a crisis.

But I also see a fuel shortage problem that will become a crisis pretty soon.

We need to find alternatives to oil for energy not because of climate change but because oil is a non renewable resource that is running out.
AS SAD AS IT IS...I TRULY BELIEVE WE AS A CULTURE/SOCIETY (WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT) ARE TOO SPOILED IN OUR WASTEFUL CONSUMERISM AND WILL NOT MAKE THE SACRIFICES NEEDED TO HEAL THE PLANET NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT IS TALKED ABOUT.
I do NOT believe there is a crisis. I believe that what we are reaciting to is the normal pattern. Every generation sees changes in thier local environment. Some generations see things getting colder others see things getting warmer.

We, meaning planet Earth, has still NOT recovered fully from teh little ice age that helped to usher int eh dark ages, bubonic plague etc. If after our weaher pattern and global temperatures fully recover from teh little ice and we continue to warm. I mihgt begin to wonder. However a growing amount of SCIENTIFIC data is showing that our weather pattern are effected more by the level of solar activity (we are just coming off of an 11 year high activity cycle) and the intensity of cosmic radiation bombarding our world. (we are at a low point now)

Highly levels of solar activity makes the world warmer, kinda like throwing extra logs on your bonfire. If you don't back up you will get waremr and the Earth can NOT back away from teh sun.

Fluctuartion in the intensity of cosmic radiation effect cloud formation. (Proven in laboratory studies, and the data has been both verified and replicated. Report came our early in 2007.) The more cosmic radiation you have, the more cloud cover you get. The more cloud cover you get the cooler the earth gets... Being at a low activity cycle, the cooling effect of greater cloud cover is not present. Thus we warm up.

Although many scientists still believe carbon dioxide in teh atmosphere has an effect, they are scaling back the magnatude of that effect more and more.

Ok, a recent study released in 2007 from the study of coral reefs it has been determined that warmer weather does NOT produce stronger hurricanes. (like Gores movie...) To the contrary, warmer weather can tend to make for weaker hurricanes. The researchers were suprised by their findings, and they at this time can only postulate as to why there is an inverse relationship.

We could go on and on and on, but none of us have that much free time...
i think we all know the answer.pollution is the source of ozon layer getting thiner and thiner,so that more and more radiation from the sun gets through it,and the result is higher temperatures, ice at the poles melting(so the global sea level will get higher),and so on.i think that the biggest source of pullution is BURNING OIL.so,the first thing we should do is addopting a new main source of energy-like electricity(batteries),or hydrogen,or wind.they are a few other tehnologies that have been found,so much safer for the environment, but the reason that we won't addopt them is this:
as we all know, the whole global economy is based of oil(just think a little, oil is involved in every branch of the economy,at least as fuel),and the "heads" who rule the oil world would have to lose their business, wich means A LOT OF MONEY.so,as long as the leaders of the world will continue to be the same guys who rule the oil world and the same guys who take the decisions abuout the oil issues,i don't think anything will happen.did i answered your question?
if there is a crisis, just to humor you, there is not a thing we can do about it , this is not a movie, bruce willis and morgan freeman are not going to save us. we are mere humans, we will never be able to control the climate. we could shut down our big cities and that'll make it easier to breathe, but alas we could never do what has to be done! get over yourself, use your brain and stop fretting about things you can do nothing about.
Our major concern should be our Fresh Water supply. Even if the climate were to always stay the same we would still be running out of Fresh water supplies. At our current consumption rate we will run out of fresh water before we run out of oil and other fuels. The cause of this problem... PEOPLE. Developing countries don't use as much fuel as developed countries but EVERYONE uses fresh water. with a world population of 6 billion and growing, we will soon be using more fresh water than the earth can regain through it's natural processes. And our current technology for treating and creating fresh water from polluted or Saltwater is so lacking that there is no possible way we could ever keep up with the demand.

The climate crisis will take care of itself when enough people die from lack of fresh water and we have to focus on how we are gonna get our next drink.
People need to change their attitudes and I believe they will. For example: in just a few years from now it will very likely be considered vulgar to drive a car with a high consumption of fossil fuel.
Conserve energy.

Develop alternative energy sources; nuclear, solar, wind, biofuels.

Do research on ways to capture (sequester) carbon dioxide.

A detailed plan is here:

By the way, the peer reviewed data proves that this is (mostly) not increased solar radiation. A short summary:

Honestly, I am continually amazed that people somehow think climatologists don't measure the Sum or ignore the data.

The cosmic ray theory is also not supported by the data.

http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/arc...

Warming due (mostly) to greenhouse gases is supported by the data, and the scientific calculations work. The numbers just don't work for other causes . Which is why most all scientists

agree with this statement (note the important word, quantitative):

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA
OK so I am not on board with the whole global warming, I mean climate shift,or whatever the PC term is, but I do think pollution is real and a true danger to all of our current health and not just something that maybe some day could affect our great great great grandkids. I am all for reduce, reuse, recycle and making the world cleaner and healthier. I am just tired of the politics so sometimes I am a bit cynical about it. Any way, by way of climate crisis, tell the sun not to shine and to shed those horrid sun spots. By way of cleaning up the environment: I would like to see incentives given to companies to offer lower prices on energy efficient items, from cars to light bulbs. That would make them attractive not only to the green crew but also to the pay-check to pay-check group. I think companies who emit dirty air should be given a reasonable amount of time and perhaps incentives to clean up. Those being things the everyday person can't control though, here are a few of the basics everyone should (and probably does) know.
Reduce: carpool, turn off lights appliances, adjust heating and cooling to 80 summer, 65 winter, air dry instead of dryer, etc.
Reuse: From empty water bottles and dryer sheets to buying furniture/vehicles in almost new condition.
Recycle: Hey you can even make some money on this one, especially if you have some copper.

There is much much more but the first thing is just to continue to try and change peoples attitude about these things. The political statements and rhetoric make many of these statements useless (not that your does, or else I wouldn't have taken the time to answer it, although the Hellfire and damnation attitude about the coming decade is a bit annoying. It brings to mind the image of the homeless man with the sign "The world is ending." while ranting crazily) Those that agree may shout amen all the way through but those aren't the ones you need to convince. They will read it and say BS while turning the A/C down to 70 out of spite.
The only crisis is an attack on our way of life, on our "consumerism," our wallets, and our liberty. The solution, don't vote for those that promote politics that masquerades as science.
What can we do ? Take a good look around do you see people doing anything different ? Is your neighbor staying home more often walking to the store . Do you see more people riding bikes ? I look out my window and see cars flying by delivery truck cruising up and down the neighbor woman getting her fat butt into her SUV to go 2 blocks to the party store . I get on my bike and people are blowing there horns telling me to get off the road . So what do you think i should do go through the neighborhood and knock the crap out of them ? As far as the climate goes people are to busy arguing who's fault it is . As far as we know billions of asteroids are bombarding the sun putting more fuel on the fire . I'm afraid a hand full of yahoo people cant do a thing about it . To much greed to many disbelievers to many everything . The most i can do is pray that my kids make it through what ever we are going through. That's the real story. Do you have a better one ? Are you looking though rose collard glasses? Take them off and see the real world .
The "ONLY" reasonable solution to the Question wold be to, reevaluate our Idealism of progress. I think the floods, earthquakes, tsunami's are all just effects and not the causes, the natural laws and ordinances of our Universe and Planet have a natural "self-preservation" written within its processes. We as a people and not as a Government must look at these things and choose wisely for ourselves and not be so dependent on 3rd parties for our survival. Many things can, could and should be done but first thing first "WE MUST CHANGE THE WAY WE VIEW GLOBAL PROBLEMS" Be a good neighbor, you might need his help one day.
I have done the research and I still want to know what crisis.
Think before you act.
hey spidey do you own a home, sign it over to me, move to a grass hut with no electricity, and no running water, I will sell the house and buy carbon offsets in your name k?
can the people in charge they are responsible for letting it get out of hand
