Who's ready to stop global warming?

Ok, I know I'm sounding like Al Gore. Forget that it's even global warming. Here are some things you can do:

1)Switching to fluorescent lightbulbs. These may cost more than traditional lightbulbs, but they last 3 times as long and use 1/4 of the energy.

2)Turning your thermostat down 2 degrees in winter and 2 degrees up in summer. Why? You can save a buck or two. And here's an idea: Wearing a sweater. Why does it have to be 50 degrees in summer when we want it to be 75 degrees in winter?

3) Take the bus or subway. It saves a lot on gas money.

Those are just 3 ways to help stop global warming. Google for more. As you can see, it's not just about saving the planet, but saving money. And religious types, doesn't the Bible (or Torah ,Quran or Buddhist/Shinto Rules) say you should protect the land, because we are God's(Allah's) stewards? Listen, if you're looking for a second coming of Christ, and you didn't do anything about this, he would just be sad with you. Who's with me?

Answer:
1) check!
2) check! I've got my thermostat at 81°F now (summer) and somewhere around 60°F in the winter.
3) I bike to work, so essentially check!

I've made this same point several times - combatting global warming is a win-win scenario. Not only are we playing it safe with regards to GW (if you're skeptical of global warming and you're wrong, we're screwed!), but we benefit in other ways from reducing fossil fuel consumption. Less reliance on oil from the middle east, better health from cleaner air, lower energy bills from energy efficiency, lower gas bills from driving less, etc. There's no reason that everyone shouldn't take these steps!
ITs great that you are concerned about global warming, and want to do something about it. by the things you mention.
In my opinion and many others may agree, that it may be too late, to reverse it.. I really dont like being negative, Im being realistic
Global warming is a natural occurance, quit pushing the hype. Conservation (energy, resources, etc.), is up to all of us. We have a finite amount of resources and need to reuse and conserve what we have.
i already do most of these stuff. except number one... my car broke down and my parents wont get me an new one. so i take the bus. the thermostat isnt a problem becasue we use a electric fan to help us out.
yes those fluorescent light bulbs are really great.also i agree with the public transportation...i take it everyday and even though i hate it, it is good for the environment. ..overall...i am with you
Hun, we all wanna stop globel warming, but you gotta think about this; its not all are falt. Granet the stuff coming out of our cars isn't helping the environment; but still. 30 years ago, all of the adult comunity, wether they were think about it or not, didn't care about the future, because it didn't afect them. And that may be what we're doing. Acording to the paterns of the last ice ages, there should be one coming up. We may be sending the next couple generations straight into it. Just think about it. I'm totaly with you on the 3 easy ways to prevent it, however. Good thinking.
dude Im soo with you! if only some of our leaders in the government were.
I'm with you!

I do all that stuff-- We are also running out of drinking water.the answer is to conserve!! low-flow faucets, my people!
I'm just waiting to do my part when I move to Level 2 and get my free tote bag. I just need one best answer in the environmental section........
i think that we are definitely contributing to the ruination of the earth by not conserving energy & polluting the air, and we can do our best to improve, on a personal level, and i'm sure that the more people who try to help, the slower the process will be in regards to global warming, however i don't think that it's possible to reverse it because it is so far beyond "fixing" no matter how many people try. it will have to be a global effort, and we know that's not going to happen. the good thing is that the Bible talks about a hope for the future, the earth being a paradise (Psalm chapter 37 & Revelation 21:3,4 are good scriptures to read) and it also talks about destroying those ruining the earth (Revelation 11:18). so, it will get taken care of, it simply won't be possible by humans.
Already there.

Anybody who uses religion as an excuse to shirk personal responsibility is a hypocrite and should receive a godsmack of some sort.

Wish I could put the global warming in bubbles only around people who refuse to take responsibility for it. It's EVERYBODY'S problem, though the solution lies in personal action.

I think somebody said something about loving your neighbor as yourself. Is it really loving your neighbor who is against global warming to say, well, I'm not going to do anything to stop it because I prefer to think I'm ushering in some Armageddon? Think about it--it's not right to offend those of us who actually give a sh!t about the earth and feel like we should take good care of it.

So nobody should hide behind religion to justify their refusal to help stop global warming.
I am totally behind you. You actually see that we have an issue on our hands and need to act. And the problem is is that it is SO easy to help fight global warming and so many Americans are lazy and don't give enough of a crap to help. They think that since it might not effect their generation, that we are going to be fine and that Al Gore is lieing. But that is not the case. We need to help our planet or else it's going to come back and bite us in the butt. I think it's great that you are posting ways to help so that Americans realize how easy it is. Thanks!
