Why limit it to $20. The result would be the same what ever it was.
You thought gas was expensive..

Basically we will have to redefine expensive. Because it will make the price of everything go up. The rich will not care much, because they can afford it. Millions will go below that mysterious poverty line though.
I would destroy our standard of living.
You'll see that $20 is just the minimum base. Richer and more vibrant economies will pay more. The annual tax will be in the trillions...and just what do they plan to do with this money. A hundred years ago, we didn't have income taxes in this country. The whole personal income tax deal was supposed to be temporary, but that genie is out of the bottle and is NEVER going back. One thing we know from history is that once we start taxing, the thirst for more taxes increases. Give them a trillion dollars a year and not hold them accountable for it...the UN is not even elected...it will be disastrous.
And they are estimating taxes of $250/ton in CANADA. If the US is polluting more, you can bet that our bill will be considerably higher.
