Why is recycled stuff more expensive??
Answer:
Recycled does not mean cheaper.
It means it's manufacture is kinder to the environment in contrast to virgin made products.
Sometimes recycled IS cheaper...glass is one example.
because the one who made that tried his or her best to do that thing thats wy its too expensive!
It's just another form of ripping you off. They hope by waving the 'Green thing' in your face, you'll feel guilty and pay over the odds.
Because alot of companies that produce recycled products are much smaller and therefore have to charge more than huge multinational conglomerates.
Trendys in one word
its the companys selling these"green"products
that advertise it in such a way
it makes trendy keeping up appearance types
buy it,so they will seem ever so modern and funky
but normal and a everyday drudgery type person buys what is neccesary and hasnt got the luxury of appearing stylish
the here here luvvy darling and right on right now set have got excess money to squander and the companys that sell eco-aware bog paper work on the theory that a foolish person is easily parted from their money, and yknow what they are right
because of the operation management.
They want to save the environment but it's difficult to cut cost.
It is primarily a question of collection costs. It is more expensive to send a lot of trucks throughout a neighborhood (collecting recyclables) than to send one truck to a mine/lumberyard and pick up all the ingredients at once.
Also, humans need to physically sort through all the recycle trash by hand in order to recycle it.
However, the collection process is getting more automated and recycle costs are falling. Soon, the recycled products will be the same price (or even cheaper) on many products.
Here is to a cheaper, more sustainable future.
Sometimes it is cheaper, but you have to remember that more work goes into the recycling of a product so that it is fit for its proper use than if it was brand new.
Its like you washing your suit before handing them onto a charity shop. You wouldn't give them it dirty cause then they wouldn't be able to use it.
its coz its recycled
Cost of processing? We all want to help the environment so what are we going to do? Should we all just complain or Act? We all have the choice.
Look at the questions in green living about the campaign to get Permaculture made into a sub-category.
Can't be bothered. Fine, carry on complaining.
Sorry, I obviously did not explain myself well enough . I am not suggesting you buy more expensive recycled goods. Just the opposite, buying less of everything is much much greener. So is reusing. Buy less and reuse should be priorities. The issue of recycled products to me is about why we are all just accepting things as they are.
Many people are concerned about the environment, however they would sooner just buy lots MORE recycled products than address the real issues of why ALL goods are not produced in an environmentally friendly way.
Some American States have, totally banned plastic carrier bags and I understand that plastic bottles are next to be banned. If all products were forced by legislation to be Environmentally friendly, the market would bring prices down to be competitive and it would benefit mankind and the environment.
Recycled stuff are more cheaper as the stuff it is recycled from first has to be segrigated in the garbage disposal sites and then has to be further seperated int plastic, papper etc.
after all this it is then sent to small scale factories which are 1 in every city thus making it more XP. after all not every second hand thing is cheaper
the process costs more
it's dearer because they have to wash it until no bacterial germs are left on the cardboard, plastic, cans, paper etc. Then once clean they have to melt, or whatever they have to do, then remould it inot what the recycled items are needed for, once done, then we the customers have to pay for the recycled item to be transported back to us to use again.
because the materials have had to be made from old existing things - its like having to add an extra process before the one that makes the thing we want.
ironically while saving some land fill the recycling process uses loads of power and so isnt very environmentally friendly!
because it's a fashion and fashion costs.
You can get cheap recycled bog roll in morrisons at about £1.80 bogof for a 4pack
You can watch tv in england for one year for about 100 quid and that's all recycled
Cause it costs a fortune to reprocess stuff
Because the energy costs of recycling stuff far outweighs the energy cost of making the thing in the first place.
because only small amount of people do it.untill everyone does it the price will stay high.
because we could use it again
