I bought a Jansport in high school that lasted me three years before the zipper ripped.
If your trying to be more Eco-friendly with your backpack, go for a burlap sack. It may not be the hottest thing, but it it the right thing to do.
You don't have to behave like you live in a 3rd world country in order to be more eco friendly. You could look for a second hand bag, either at at a thrift store, or even a military surplus store. You could also sew a pretty sweet messenger bag out of some old denim jeans.
Otherwise, just buy a good quality pack that will last you many many years.
Solar pack pack. That way you can charge you lap top or cell phone with it or anything that takes rechargeable battery's
Backpacks aren't really in style anymore. Get a messenger bag or a tote.

Jansport is what my family buys their children.they are guaranteed against tears and they back them up.Just keep the receipt,and it is good to go.
Who cares whats in style?! Thats so dumb. You should get whatever catches your eye. Although, I do kinda agree with the person who said that you can make your own. Ive made a few of my own purses out of my husbands camo pants. You dont have to go along with what everyone else is buying...be your own person ;)
