How green is your computer?
Answer:
Mine is not green. Mine is black as tar.
Mine has a power supply 3X as powerful as an average computer. It's power supply devours nearly a kilowatt (.8 kwatt to be exact)
But I need that much power with dual video cards and 4 hard drives setup in RAID.
Can't be 'green' and play the greatest video games at the same time. Same goes for racing my car. Glad we don't have emission checks where I live.
Most computers these days automatically go into a low power mode when you don't use them. Computers help spread environmental awareness. Using them is not a big problem.
We need to focus on the big important things.
I've replaced my light bulbs with compact fluorescents. I purchase "wind power" from my power company. My next car will be the smallest one that meets my real needs. Things like that make a real difference.
Figure out what changes you can make that will make a real difference.
computers are not green!! think of the machines it took to build them; each key that is made spits carbon monoxide into the atmosphere from the machine that makes it.. not to mention the machine that made that machine.. and not even to think about how much you are polluting every time you make and answer these questions because every time to refresh your browser yahoo networks spit out even more pollutants because of the machines working to make the page come up... times thousands and millions
I didn't drive to the store for mine I ordered it lol. Anyway, I don't think that ONE trip where you happened to buy a computer makes that much of a difference.
My computer's a Dell XPS 200, the tiny little one. I have no idea how green it is, but it's cute and compact.
my computer isnt green at all... its more of a silver/blackish color.
