Is it true that fireflies have disappeared from American backyards? WHY?!?
I don't think it's true, i saw one yesterday. But why are they saying this? (supposedly according to my teacher is was on the news)
Answer:
yes it absolute does!
not true i found one earlier this year!
.
I have seen millions in the jungles of Ouxaca ,even giant ones
you guys must be running out of phosphorous
I've noticed a severe decline in the amount of fireflies at night compared to my childhood I feel bad cause of all the ones I caught and inadvertently killed so I'd have to say jars are responsible for the decline or over development of the land
I've seen lots of them here, but I've been hearing some big stories about honeybee's numbers dropping fast and mysteriously in the US and Europe both.
You know why? Because we are overcrowded with our housing and firelflies like the dark, not homes equipped with floodlights and emergency lights.
This is not true. Actually they only come out later in the summer. Don't worry, they'll be here soon.
I grew up in Va., and we had tons of them ea. yr. Here in San Antonio Tx, I rearely see them. However 30 miles away in Seguin, I find tons of them in a pecan grove near my work.
Have seen a few as it's the season. Their numbers are greatly less than years past. The over-use of pesticides by "lawn-care" companies may have something to do with the reduction of fireflies. And by the way, there are fewer butterflies in season as well.
There are plenty of them in North Carolina. I can't really speak for anywhere else, though.
no it's not true I've seen more than i can count in fact i see one out side right now
I haven't seen any yet this year. I think it is a but early.
They were around last year though.
Plenty of fireflys where I live. It's probably just another lie perpetrated by the ELFs.
They have not disappeared completely cause I've seen a few this year. I think more will be out later, as it gets hotter.
