it's ok to be a tree hugger,but dont force your belief's on others,and dont talk about it way too often
if you go around telling people about it then yeah,people will think bad,but if u keep to urself,and maybe suggest once in a blue moon it's all fine

People will most likely bug you about it, but that doesn't mean you should stop being one. If you don't stick up for the environment, who will? Most people in 7th grade are very immature and they like to pick on people. Just ignore the bullies.
I don't think its bad to be a tree hugger, unless you get fanatic or become an extermist tree hugger.
I think most 12 year olds are...we are raising you to undo the damage our parents did...just don't go overboard...most jr.high's have recycling programs and teach energy efficiency etc...most people are not against saving the trees...that's why we use computers instead of paper!

Not at all. The people who would rather live in a wooden or concrete coffin with windows and doors rather than experience the beauty of nature are already dead inside. They just don't realize it.
Make sure you live up to your claim though; learn how to be the best tree hugger you can be ;-)
It is good to have opinions. What you have to remember is that everyone else has one too. Having an opinion that people should not, say for example, cut down old growth trees is very legitimate, but what do you have an alternate solution? What do you use to replace the old growth tree in the market place? Just having a passion to change is not enough. You need a solution too.
For example I have a passion for using solar energy to power geothermal heat pumps for heating and cooling homes. It is totally green and gives us independence from foreign energy.
A problem of carbon loading the atmosphere solved with a non-carbon producing solution.
Fantastic. We need future generations of 'tree huggers'. It is great you are thinking about these issues already. I agree that It is difficult (whatever age you are) to be different from the crowd. But you can show your concern for environmental issues by what you do. Every little bit of effort helps. Go for it.

One of my now best friends became a vegan this year (grade 12) and it really hasn't changed anything other then feeling slightly like a jerk when out getting food with her but as long as you don't try to push your beliefs on others it really makes no difference at all.
No its is definately not bad to be a tree hugger. I am one and I think the whole human race has an obligation to look after this place...if we destroy it there is no where else to go! I believe we can still live a good lifestyle but leave a smaller footprint on the planet if we live more sustainably.
Be a green ambassador, even though you're young tell people why you care for the environment and things you do to help it. Don't force it upon anyone, but you'll be surprised if you educate others through conversation people do tend to be more mindful for the environment in their own lives...and for those that don't then don't get discouraged and be proud of being interested in our natural environment, it's a good thing! Yeah. Go for it! I'm not much older than you so i know how you might feel, but as long as you have some nice friends, people won't really care that much. You'll find that most people, (maybe not all.. there are a few losers out there,) won't mind what you do.
