How to stay cool at home during very hot temperatures, provided a/c is also on but not enough for very hot days

Answer:
Keep yourself well hydrated with an isotonic solution or at least make sure that you get 6 gms of salt a day. Make sure your house is well sealed, especially low down like under doors. Obviously a larger or another air con would help to pump heat out. I painted the roof with a special heat and light reflective paint to keep the heat out- arctic white. The ceiling is well insulated. I have wide verandas but the window and door glass is still a problem. I still need a separate small air con for the bedroom.
Boy, you must be in a hot country. Take cold shower evey two hours. Find some electric fan and blow it directly at you. Drink Ice water, or any ice drink. Eat ice-cream. Go to shower again and repeat the same process all over. If you're still hot, do it again.
open windows at night to let in the cooler air.
in the morning make sure all the curtains are drawn to help block the sun and keep the heat out. If you can, cover your windows with reflective film to keep additional heat out.

Don't turn on appliances that give off a lot of heat, like the oven or stove.

If you have a split level home - stay on the ground floor.
