What is a comfortable degree of humidity for a home?

Answer:
The actual % humidity will change from one area of your home to another. For a given moisture content, the humidity goes up as the temperature comes down. There is therefore a risk that if you have 60% humidity in an open well ventilated space then in some cool corner you could be getting condensation which will lead to mould - not good. When you can get 25 to 35 % humidity showing in an open space such as your lounge there is less chance of condensation anywhere in the house but you must maintain this lower humidity level over time to keep all things like your stored clothes nice and dry. Less than 25% humidity and you can suffer skin dehydration or even throat discomfort if you dont drink enough. Some places the humidity is very high and you just cant control it down. As is always the case you need enough ventilation to avoid condensation in any part of your home.
around 30-40%
