Ig global warming is not stopped, what will happen in the end?

I saw the movie "Day after Tomorrow" a while ago so I was wondering.

Answer:
Global Warming cannot be stopped. To stop the component of Global Warming that is caused by carbon dioxide would require that we ban the use of fossil fuels worldwide.

Such a ban is not realistic. It is not feasible politically or militarily.

The good news is that movies such as the "Day After Tomorrow" are nothing more than Hollywood hype designed to make the moviemakers lots of money.

There will be increases in sea levels. Fortunately many low lying areas can be protected with dikes similar to those used in Holland. For the areas that cannot be protected with dikes the population can be relocated to higher ground. We will need to help the poor countries with this.

There will be more frequent and more violent hurricanes. We will have to increase our disaster preparedness for hurricanes. We will need to help poor countries increase their disaster preparedness for huricanes.

There will be droughts in some parts of the world. We will need to assist those areas with drought relief, probably in the form of desalination plants for the desalination of brackish water and seawater. We will need to help the poor countries with desalination plants.

There are some climatic changes that we will need to plan for, but nothing like the doomsday fantasies of hollywood movies.

Fortunately for us those Hollywood movies are nothing but fantasies.
The human race will be destroyed or it will reduced gradually untill the global warming will stop (probably the first will occur)
i guess well be dead don't u think so?
if there was a such thing as global warming, something bad would happen.
Global warming is a natural occurance and it is not threatening global life in the least.
then i,ll send u message from heaven_"hey dude under water or what".
that means k the ice caps will melt & the whole world will b under water.what ever u saw in the movie can happen if the global warming continues at same rate
.
People are odd, I think. They are willing to say that global warming is "a normal cycle" and yet they completely neglect to notice that there have been times in the past where nearly all the life on earth was wiped out, and it started again. (For an easy example, think dinosaurs.)

If global warming is not stopped, the first thing that will happen is millions of people will start being displaced due to a variety of reasons: they live on low lying areas that become covered by the sea, the crops that were their main food can no longer be grown where they live, the weather becomes unlivable (like drought or hurricanes), there is no longer enough fresh water for drinking, other stuff.

The second thing that will happen, is there will be a ton of wars, some small, some global, because the resources to take care of the displaced people will not be evenly distributed, and people who have nothing to lose are easily convinced to fight for water, food, and a place to live, rather than die.

The third thing that will happen, is people who have lots of resources, like money, the ability to move to where life is easier, the ability to build homes that can withstand the changes, will start to be attacked by those without the resources.

Huge nomadic groups will push out to the north and south where the weather is better for sustaining life, where there is enough water, but the people who already lived there will feel invaded. Nations anywhere near the equator tend to be poorer, and people with means tend to not have as much sympathy with poor people, so the clashes will become terrible.

Many people will die. Much land that presently sustains plants and animals will be lost to rising sea water or drought. Many plants and animals will become extinct. Weather will become more extreme.

But "the end" isn't foreseeable, because there really isn't an applicable definition of "end" for this. One supposes that some people, plants and animals will survive, possibly some people will take off into space to find other planets to colonize, who knows. So, I'll leave it there.

Global Warming, as real as it is, MAY NOT be mans fault. Throughout the history of the world, Siberia has gone from frozen wasteland, to arid desert, and back to frozen wasteland. All without a single footprint from mankind.
We need to start thinking more about how to survive it in the event that we can't reverse it.
Most likely we will not be able to reverse it.
The Day After Tomorrow is not a realistic scenario. It will not happen.

What will happen if global warming is not slowed or stopped is the following:

1) Extreme weather events such as super hurricanes, droughts, floods, heat waves, etc. will become more commonplace.

2) Eventually the Greenland Ice Sheet will melt and sea levels will rise 23 feet, displacing tens of millions of people from their homes.

3) All of our resources will be diverted into efforts to stop global warming.

4) Antarctic ice sheets will eventually melt causing a further 60 foot sea level rise and displacing yet more people from their homes.

5) Many species will become extinct.

6) There will be water and food shortages worldwide.

There will be other consequences if we don't do anything about global warming, but those are the main ones.
Al Gore will proclaim himself God.
If you are referring to what is commonly called "Global Warming" meaning some excess of temperature apparently caused by mankind in various ways, in the end we will most likely have a significantly warmer earth longer, learn new ways to live within the box effectively, and more agricultural lands to the N and S, find new ways to use the warmth and ocean levels and resources uncovered from todays ice, and if we remain free, develop many new and better ways to live.

And make those of the Consensus very happy telling us, "We told you so!"

If the normal natural warming, as shown in History, is stopped. we will most likely plunge into a severe Global Cooling, leading directly to another 90,000 years or so of a mostly frozen earth before the next natural cycle comes along. Man will probably survive in reduced numbers and potentials only along the equator, and life will probably degenerate to survival only, until the next natural Global Warming comes along.

IF we can tread the narrow line between keeping from "excess" global warming and falling into the glacier trap of Global Cooling. we will see the same effects as now, only on a smaller scale, as natural global warming occurs. The warming charts and curves will look about as the others dating back 500,000 years or so,,,a fairly long period of ups and downs in Global Temperatures for a few thousand years, some peaks apparenty warmer than today, some much cooler. And then the slide back into intense glaciation as the natural Global Cooling period comes back as it has always before.

And I would expect the ruling Consensus to constantly police for any violations of the control on all possible affectors of the Global Termperature, and constantly inform us that they told us so and the new and changing rules are for our benefit, so comply for the Good of the World or else.

They will be working hard full time on keeping a static 0 impact on the natural earth...same amount of land and ocean in the same places, nothing new except the scientists at their computers determining what we all do to counteract any changes from equilibrium from man's inputs, and the politicians sending out the enforcers and making all on the globe comply.

In the extreme case, the Consensus government may try to force the Earth away from the entire natural cycling of heat and cold, to an artificial stasis at a politically-determined point, which will become progressively more unstable until it catastrophically collapses from the natural pressures, and the resulting collapse will probably overshoot cold and take virtually all life off the earth.

Please remember, movies are usually highly fictional, and often over-dramatized with data changed to make them more exciting and entertaining. Good to spawn thinking at times, but not necessarily either factual or accurate; they are conceived and written for dramatic points. And to entertain you and capture part of your money. Not usually to teach you new data and theories with the supporting evidence and the research leading to it...such movies are deadly dull usually, and would not be shown to the average public.
We will destroy our beautiful planet. It's happening quicker than some people think! I do my part, for my family! Good Question!
You don't get a refund on your carbon tax credits. And then EVERBODY will say I told you so.
the ozone will break into so many pieces that the radiation of the sun will kill us
you see... In the last century the temperature has only increased a fraction of a degree. It is just a normal thing that happens: it's natural. In the end, the temperature is just going to decrease, like it happened in Earth's History.
Low-Lying areas may be flooded because the icebergs have disappeared that contain gallons and gallons of water.
No one knows and anyone who guesses is just that guessing. I bet you hear a lot of doom and gloom from the alarmist and not one positive. There is no way that there will not be one positive consequence from GW. We may be farming in all of Canada. Who knows what will happen but people will tell you whatever it takes to scare you.
What will happen in the end will be thousands of years from now. Trust me, the earth will last longer than you think.
The IPCC is already backpedaling on the ol' seas rising thing. You guys need to get with the program...

They're saying anywhere from 8 inches to 2 feet by 2100. Not exactly the disaster you were hoping for.
we will all die!!!!!
human race will survive. but i don't think it happens as fast as in the movie.
