Robin... but its summer?
Is it unusual for them to be around or is it that I'm just thinking of xmas cards pics as being the true life of robins?
Answer:
They are around everyday of the year. You maybe notice them more due to the lack of foliage on the trees, and they do stand out more with there red breasts.
I pointed the same thing out to my wife this weekend, I have never seen them in the summer either.
rOBIN WILLIAMS IS OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW? Tell him hi.
His chest is red from all the booze.
If you are in the UK, the robin is indiginous and present year round. There is no obvious visual difference between the sexes. The chicks (which should all be fledged by now) appear as small brown birds with numerous spots across their breasts.
we have them all year round in scotland maybe you just did not notice them before now that you have you will see them all the time .
Robins are usually associated with being one of the first signs of spring, and herald the coming of warmer weather. X-mas cards usually have cardinals (redbirds) on them.
At one time we used to think of winter and robins, but whether it's global warming or whatever, I have robins in my garden all year round. Although I have bird feeders out, there is one particular cheeky robin that pops in through the open cat flap to feed in the kitchen.
Seeing the occasional anomoly is not unusual. There is a flock of Canadian geese here that has one Barnicle goose as a member of the flock. There is only one place in the world where both species exist, which is their arctic nesting grounds. So it isn't difficult to figure out what happened.
Here in Canada robins are a herald of spring, but for the last few years I have been mowing my lawn Xmas day just to prove a point. (Freaks the neighbors out when they realize someone is mowing their lawn in a short sleeved shirt in Canada on Xmas day lol)
So whether or not seeing one is an anomoly or a sign of Global Warming ... no way to tell you that without a lot more information.
its not global warming,as we had heat waves in the 1970'sand bitter colds in the 80's we use this as a poor excuse, and to divert the news and our worries for another day.
