Did anyone get woken from there sleep last night in manchester by loud bangs about 4am?
I heard 3 loud bangs last night that woke me up from my sleep. i couldn't quite figure out what the noise was, can anyone suggest what it was? My first thought was its a bomb going off but i doubt this is the case!

I'm only replying to say that the mystery bangs in/around Manchester are a 'phenomena' that have been happening periodically for a long time. When I lived in North Manchester I heard them myself always around 4am, and so have many other people. In the mid-90s there was even a big local media flap to try and find out what they were, because people were getting a bit worried as they happened for a few nights in a row, but then they stopped. The local media couldn't find what caused them and it remained a mystery - I think perhaps it's the military testing bombs maybe.
I live further North now and had the same experience around midnight last year with similar bangs that seemed to be over the Cheviots, and nobody could say what they were, but again I think it may have been the military (but they were damn big bangs and up in the sky).
A new weapon system maybe??
Just the local gangs shooting each other up I suspect. Nothing to worry about, go back to bed please ^_^
